Convert into something useful
Turn into corpses for bases or add to terrain
Pretend to be generous and give to a friend as if it means a lot
Just keep it and left to collect dust.
Other - let me know!
I'm working on my 4th army now and will have Chaos SM, SM, Eldar & Tyranids. However, lately I'm getting quite the collection of models I will NEVER use to play with; what do you all do with these models?
Chaos I have the possessed from the battleforce which look nice, but are a big waste. Maybe paint them up as statues to add detail to some buildings? I dont think they'll sell very well either.
Eldar, again from the battleforce, I have defender guardians. Likely wont sell well, but what else could they be used for?
Tyranids have hormies & gaunts in the battleforce I dont plan on using either. They might sell, but I like the look of hormies and might paint them up just for display. It'll be a pain to transport some extra models I won't though since I keep armies stored together.
SM are pretty easy to convert or put somewhere since they all look the same an are interchangable so not much is wasted here. However, there are some which have bolt pistol/CCW from other editions - aka useless now.
Any other ideas or what do you do with your non playable models? Especially ones which aren't showcase peices like basic troops.
yea definitely just keep them, you never know when you will get the chance to use them again, and you can always feel good rolling into the game shop with older models and people being excited to see a model that they have never seen

Where's the "Keep it in a display case because I'm proud of the effort I went to to paint an army and am often reminded of the fun I've had using the army in various tournaments or in games against old friends"?
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
Currently, they are collecting dust, but eventually I hope they will all be repaired and sitting carefully in cupboards or on shelves, waiting for a chance to play once more.
My Marines sat untouched and unloved for about 4 years, Late last year I moved home and started repairing and repainting my marines, adding a few new units and now have the best part of a company fully detailed. They are my main gaming army at the moment.
Arch Overfiend & Grand Despot
I currently play:
Doom Eagle Space Marines
Hive Fleet Omega Tyranids
Goff Ork Boyz(dead)
Tau of O'me
Inquisitorial Xeno Hunters
and my attempted foray into fantasy
'Dark Angel Green' Dark Elves in need of fluff
I'll add them to my bits box to use as terrain or base material (or to enhance a collection I'm working on - the Inquisition spring to mind), sell them off, or just paint them up with extra effort.
Theyll be usefull for something.....eventually.
#25 - Relation to the original topic decreases with every single post.
I always try and convert my old models, some of my faivorate models are my old converted ones!
well I seem to have an awful lot of models lying around either half assembled, half painted, or just didn't like the model so much the morning after...
I leave them around the my room on random desks or bookcases basically wherever they look good. the reason I have so much experience in this field was a few years back I told my parents to take the usual amount of bday cash and buy me some new models...
I should have supervised them because when they got back I was left with about 5 boxes of assorted LOTR models and a WHFB giant (the giant incidently was the start of my Orc and Goblin army) the LOTR models are fully painted and look great, however I don't play LOTR so thats all they will ever be.
They now surround the LOTR trilogy on my bookshelf.
Keep them. You never know hoe the rules will change to make them useful again.
