I am replacing all my dice with Highlander faction dice from Mechwarrior: Dark Age. The reason, The two I have now are blessed by the dice gods. Also I bring Tara Cambell's Battlemaster figure no matter the game I play, the dice wish to please their mistress...

Also I play the math-hammer. Volume>Everything is what I say. If you cannot drown your enemy in lucky rolls, drown them by the sheer number of dice you roll.

I personally use Rackhman die as after some testing the dragon symbol for 6 comes up most often. Good for everything but leadership. Another idea is not to think while rolling die. Two reasons one you might be subconsciously causing your hand to release the die so it rolls low and two a quantum theory model shows you can effect random problems by thinking about the desired outcome.

7. -- DARK ELVES! Dig those hatred re-rolls, that minty fresh Druchii Sorcery rule and the sheer volume of low Str shots you can pump out

8. -- Cthulhu! The supernatural investigative game where you have to roll UNDER things.

I too have a mental thing with dice- I find they roll a lot better if I have a themed set per army. For example, I have a bright orange set for my Lizardmen which I call the "Dice of Sotek" that always seem to roll incredibley luckily for me. One fateful day I tried to use them with a borrowed Marine army and they turned on me in the most humiliating fashion. I couldn't pass a Ld test, move more than 2" through difficult terrain, hit ANYTHING with any of my powerfists or pass a single armour save.

Sotek was obviously displeased with my betrayal.

Maybe it was the tone of the earlier post, but I didnt intend to moan about bad dice rolling as some sort of metaphorical middle finger in my face from life.
(Though I will begin collecting the rolling data from 30+ games to make it statistically significant enough to actually test this.)

The intended question was are there armies or units that "benefit" from low rolling more than others?

Perhaps an army with 3 x Psychic Units, or a unit that is traditionally not-used because it requires too many Leadership (or low scoring) rolls?

There is always the option of training my dice (the original thread escapes my search-fu) where I place the offending dice in the center of a circle formed by its compatriots and then smash it with a hammer....
The problem with this method is I think I will run out of dice quite quickly

OMG UPDATES!!!!

In my game last night there was a SIGNIFICANT difference between dice rolled using a Dice Cup

I passed 8 FNP rolls in 1 round of shooting.....Ive never done that before.

And i still managed to pass all my leadership tests, apart from 1, by regular 5 finger rolling.

Everyone has their own methods for making the dice work better for them. I should say willing the dice to work better for them, as you can not make the dice do anything. They are willful little creatures, will take offense at your attempts to "make" them do anything, and will show their disapproval by rolling you all 1s all game.

What works for me is to always call missile launchers rocket launchers. The reason being that missile launchers have the word miss in them and are therefore more likely to miss. That and sacrificing small warm-blooded creatures to the dice gods. Yep, that has helped me a ton, and is the main reason I do so well in Warhammer games, despite my own ineptitude at strategy and formation/planning skills.

I would try out different rituals/techniques, and it seems you have already found one that has helped in using a dice cup. Also blood sacrifice is always a good one to try, If I may be so bold as to suggest.

P.S. - I have also found that melta weapons hate me. I have never rolled anything other than a 1 with a melta weapon, barring a few extreme abnormalities. I theorize that the same may be true for certain squads, their opinion of you affecting how they do in battle. Maybe try treating your squads differently, or else equipping them differently. Plasma weapons love me and Heavy Bolters are my mistress.

P.P.S. - Also, I find that good rolls are an extremely finite resource and that you must use all your dice equally, lest the used ones become depleted and bad, and the unused ones become jaded and jealous, so that when you do use them they will be bad.

I think I roll average, some opponents think I roll high... its all from what perspective you look at it from if you lose you are bound to remember the lower rolls more and thus you think you are a low roller.

however I treat my dice well and have never bought a single dice since the twenty I bought around ten years ago. They have served me well ever since and for every examination I have ever sat I have brought one dice into the exam with me as a mascot. they show a particular use in the multi choice exams. when i haven't a clue I roll the dice to determine which option I choose... It makes me feel better than randomly guessing

hells yea, i used to roll terribly years ago, having been gifted dice at several different points and give away my current ones (even the gw manager gave me two dice packs once).

found my salvation when i started the imperial guard. sheer weight in numbers and expendibility of units was a handy solution, plus i love my army so the mindset helps too. don't have to worry about failing dice rolls when you generally don't care whether the unit lives or dies.

but my dice do even out nowadays or lean towards my favor, so maybe it's all statistical and making up for years of bad luck; but having my current dice colored in my army's theme doesn't hurt either.

You can claim low rolling is just an attitude thing, I suppose, but what if others notice it too? I'm famous at my LGS for failing Ld 10 saves.

40K Daemons. Average invulnerable saves all around anyway and if you roll a scatter on deep strike, you wont go too far.
