I might quote Ayn Rand to you here, but that would be far too far off topic!

I think that as long as both players are comfortable with the position of playing with "bases", then fine, but I for one would be very wary of someone not being able to REPLACE my models of borrowing them to play a battle - what collateral do I have if the worst should happen and my prized Dragon rider or Black Coach end up on the floor with hours of careful modelling and painting ruined? My normally very careful brother managed to mess up the face on my Eltharion model accidentally, and once bitten, twice shy...

If he had his own models, painted and had some modicum of modelling skill, I would be in a less "selfish" position as then he had things that I could hold on to or take as compensation.

You are totally right - i now re-read the original post and clearly this is not the case for him.

I do think that if someone can't afford to and is a nice guy, he should be given the chance to play. Obviously if you don't like someone, why borrow your minis to them or why play against them! (where's the drama-smilie)

I just read the thread on the club forum regarding this issue.
Basicly the guy just wants to write uber lists and win.
For that reason i would never play him (tho he seems to play fantasy not 40k, phew!)
He even plays some card game called magic, but will not buy the cards so just uses bits of paper with names and stats hand written.
He even clearly states the hobby is meanless to him, it's all about the rules...

I'm interested in the game not the hobby. I have little appreciation for the models and am positively annoyed by the impracticalities that the models introduce into the game.
play chess dude.
