So I am one to usually be on the side of GW when there is a rant against their practices, costs, what not...
Now I find a business practice that is quite annoying and for once I feel like venting!
On the 4th (July) I found that I was going to be too busy to get to my local GW and pick up the realease of the battlestrike strategems (resin) and I knew they were to be a limited release so I decided to order them from their online store.
I went online placed them in the online shopping cart just fine. Checked out and paid for them just fine. I ordered them with the craters for planetstrike which weren't released until this week so I didn't expect them to be delivered anytime soon. That is not an issue...Now a week and a half later I get an e-mail saying that they over sold them and that they are no longer available... Too bad. You weren't charged but you aren't getting them either...
Nothing pisses me off more than this kind of service. Unfortunately they are not the only company to do something like this. What is the deal with companies and their online storefronts not properly accounting for the stock they have in hand...
Had I known that they had oversold on the website I would have made an effort to make it in the store... Speaking with their customer service I really didn't get a feeling that they were sorry. Probably because they have received uncounted calls on this... The guy I spoke with simply said... I will add you to the list of the other hundred complaints I got...
I know that they used to be able to allocate what they had in stock as I remember their online store used to have their special items and collector's stuff where they would maybe have 14 of something left and it would tell you...
I know this really won't change my interest in the game and I really am not trying to sway anyones opinion of the company but felt I wanted to let off some steam. I might not buy anything from their online store for awhile at the very least.... Man I am annoyed.
I liken this experience to the movie - Vacation... I had my cross country journey through GW's online website experience buying my "wally world" only to get there and find that it is closed...
I can see why your annoyed i would be as well! Its annoying with modern databases with stock this should never happen, but it does. Its just bad management!
Sorry to hear about your experience, slorak, that's definitely a shame. You have every right to be annoyed with them about that one, especially since you were trusting in the online store to get you the item vs. trying to get to your local store!
Sadly, I'm beginning to find that many, many companies operate similarly, and it's not necessarily a problem with GW as opposed to a problem with businesses in general. Not all, of course, but quite a few have issues similar to this (or worse!).
Yeah I have had similar issues with Amazon as well... Damn it is so convenient to buy online yet so annoying...
I managed to get in to a GW store after work today and lo and behold they had a couple of the firestorm resins left so... end result was ok... Just really annoyed with their online store!
Yeah it was entirely by luck they had some. I had gone in to buy some stuff for the LO charity miniature and I just happened to air my frustration with their website and they said they had a couple left... LOL
Apparently they sent more than they expected to the stores and not enough to fulfill their online orders... Still doesn't make their process right... My thoughts are any online store should not allow you to purchase beyond what they have. They knew up front how many they were going to produce...
I think I had an even more frustrating experience with GW online store.
I wanted to order the Dark Angel upgrade sprue Part Code: 99120101060.
This item is on their web page and can be added to a shopping cart. It availability information says, "Usually ships within 24 hours."
I added the item to my cart and shopped around for some other various items that were direct sale only. When I went to check out the system no longer recognized my username and password for some reason. No problem, I'll just create another account.
I made it all the way to the part where you input your credit card information. I typed it all in and hit the continue button. The screen refreshed and all my information disappeared. My shopping cart now showed as empty. I figured it had a system timeout because I took too long to order, so I took careful note of what I had ordered and closed my browser.
I opened it back up and ordered everything as quickly as possible. I logged in using my new login ID and input my card information. I hit the next button and the screen refreshed, again losing my data.
I thought, "Alright this is obviously a Firefox deal. Let me do this with skInternet Explorer my wife's computer"... same thing... What the crap...
So I called the 1800 number and the guy says that they don't even have that sprue any more and it's been out of stock for more than a year. I asked if they were going to make any more and he said no.
What the funk?!?!?! Why have it on the web site and tell people that it's readily available??? Why the lies!!! and why doesn't the stupid web site work?
Since then I haven't been back. I'm tired of their crap.
It's plainly bad management. Managers should have also come up with a solution to the problem before people started calling in - offer the purchasers something in return (25% discount on another item) or whatever.
-2 to GW
It seams this is not the only bad feedback they are getting at the moment, take a look at this: http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...ml#post1504470 (Blastscape Craters warning!)
It seems that on of their new blast craters are really bad quality, as in poke it with a pencil and it will go straight through like butter sort of bad quality...
