is it just me or is every time you bring delicate metal minis (ven dreads, wyverns etc) somethin like a arm or tail always seems to fall off?
I know what you mean, I used to have exactly the same problem. I don't so often now, though I do have a commissar who won't hold onto his power sword.

Using a nice foam case that protects my models, I've managed to prevent a lot of this happening. I personally use a Sabol army transport.
Pin them, it really helped out my Talos.
my models dont usually break during travel. But then for some reason they get knocked off the table by rival players.
Its got to the point where i just have to accept that this going to happen every time i take m models anywhere. I've tried packing carefully with pretty much anything. I've found that socks are the best option, as long as they dont get hooked around arm/sword/banners/etc...
The other times metal models break is when someone other than me picks them up. Given the weakness of the glue i know exactly which part of the model to hold when moving it about, picking up by any other part tends to lead to disaster, and more toils with superglue.
I took the extreme approach, and field almost exclusively plastic models, converting my way around problems.... Hence Guard marine (and soon to be chaos) all infantry.
I do however have the odd problem with plastic conversions who have become slightly too large for there own good (and the spaces in my case) leading to the odd breakage.
It's nice though, not to have to worry about breakages from careless gamers. The emperors finest bounce don't-cha know.
Inquistion force WIP. Pics on posts 17 and 23.
