This tv show has just started a new series in the uk and i think its absolute garbage, but each to his own. The point is my girlfreind loves it, so i get to spend several extra hours a week painting my space marines without her yapping in my ear or nagging me to spend more "quality" time with her. Simon Cowes will be responcible for me finishing my company over the next few months.
This started me wondering what other dodges, fast ones, hustles or flankers fellow LOers have pulled or found to spend more time on our hobby. Or should that be obsession.
Jager bombs. Very efficient at wiping out friend or foe.
it is indeed obsession if my S.O. wanted to spend more quality time with me I certainly would!! She does, however, understand that I have my hobbies, just as she has hers, and when we want to spend some time doing something we simply respect that...
There are 2 things that stand in my way when it comes to assembling and painting.
1. My son. If he is not in bed, the paints and glue stays hidden.
2. Morrowind. I want to play this if I have free time, so my models sit quietly in boxes waiting for me.
My wife loves Xfactor, but she can watch it while I model a few meters away from her.
Arch Overfiend & Grand Despot
I currently play:
Doom Eagle Space Marines
Hive Fleet Omega Tyranids
Goff Ork Boyz(dead)
Tau of O'me
Inquisitorial Xeno Hunters
and my attempted foray into fantasy
'Dark Angel Green' Dark Elves in need of fluff
"Unfortunately" my other half hates it just as much as I do - which is good because I don't have to watch it, but it means I don't have any extra hobby time!
At the moment I have nowhere I can paint really as there's no room in the bedroom and downstairs there are too many cats, so unless I take the time to put them all out I won't be able to get any painting done!
I find a handy trick is to have a missus that comes home 2 hours after you. It does mean you're stuck feeding kittens and dealing with all their crap (literally) but I still usually end up with 90 minutes to myself.
Shame I usually waste it smoking and reading my books really.
My girlfriend loves soaps like Eastenders, Neighbours, Hollyoaks etc. In addition to not rotting my mind, it gives me an extra hour and a half to "go play with my toys", as she puts it. At weekends it's even better, as the 'Omnibus' episodes are shown, giving me a whopping four hours of sitting next to her with clippers, sprues and glue without being pestered to "pay more attention to her".
My girlfreind has always been pretty cool about the whole thing, she does not mind
when i want to paint and stuff so i can do it whenever, but she also loves x factor (the first bit is not that bad coz it's all about the sh+t people that sound really bad, after the first stage it's all about how good people are and thats the boring bit) So i also get a four hour window to do more stuff. I think the only hobby problem i have is space, i live with my girlfreind and her parents (we are meant to be saving up for a house) and i have to confine all my hobby stuff to be hidden up the bed which stops me from buying too much for now.

I AM BOOMER!
Try LAT'ing! Living apart from your love gives you loads of time!
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
Voor alle nederlanders:
The Dutch Legion
Fortunately my gf is very understanding of the hobby. She doesn't play, but she gets that it matters to me, and she's cool about that. She also has her own hobbies and interests that I either can't or won't get into, so we usually find moments where I'm off doing my thing while she's doing hers. Not only good for the hobby, but good for relationships, too, from time to time
Honestly, our house takes up more of my spare time these days than anything else. If only someone could paint the trim boards in my kitchen for me, and that's just the LATEST project!
