Forge World prices are ridiculous. They completely put their models out of the reach of anyone who is not a working professional (my guess is if you are one, you probably don't get a lot of time to play 40k)
Their Imperial Reaver Titan would cost you over $500 - $650 to equip it fully. Their cheapest Titan the Eldar one will still cost you over $270 with shipping.
Since their prices are in British Pound hence 1.40 USD = 1 BPS it really hurts anyone and everyone since the Pound is one of the most over-valued currency in the world.
GW just released the Ork's Stompa which is like a semi-Titan for only $100 why does Forge World have to completely rip everyone off?
well they are a buisness and people want there models and they can't get them anywhere else, so it make sense that they are overly priced but it isnt very nice.
hope is the first step on the road to dissapointment
Its politics man...Politics.
If you'd ever bought a FW mini you'd see why. The level of detail compared to the usual plastic and metal models is far, far higher, plus the titans are huge miniatures (yay oxymoron!). Combine the level of detail with a figure that's about as large as your forearm made out of high quality resin, often with full interior sculpting if the figure suits it and the cost seems a little less extreme.
The fact the models are made of solid resin rather than plastic will make one HELL of a difference, not just in materials but also in the moulding process.
And it's not that the pound is too strong, it's that your currency is too weak
There are several reasons that Forgeworld models are much more expensive that GW
- They are usually enormous and incredibly detailed, containing a large amount of resin
- The sculpting process will be longer for larger more detailed models
- As Forgeworld is a smaller operation than GW they need to charge more to turn over a profit
- There are people willing to buy from them no matter how high the price is.
Thou shalt remember:
Warhammer Fantasy armies do NOT have Codices. They have Army Books.

Forge world make less models so need to sell them for a much higher price to make the business viable.
If they were making lots of them they would make them out of plastic and they would be much cheaper... aka baneblade stompa ect.
Thats why they have made the baneblade and stompa models, because they knew that some people wouldn't pay so much for a model.
As a random aside, most (or all) of ForgeWorld's models and rules aren't really applicable in regular Warhammer 40k, so you aren't forced to use them. If you want to add more to your gaming (with permission), then you should buy the expensive models. Just look at some of the Titan logs here on LO to see what kind of a sweet model you'll be getting for the money.
Just like buying a $1200 paintball gun over a $300 one.
Rather expensive meat and potatoes
