In the midst of my Wood eldar, My Unfinished Orks, and my Dark Eldar Repair project..
I found a Vostroyan Platoon.
I bought it.
I also found 1/35 scale War Minatures. Cossak Soldiers included. As well as Soviet Soldiers in Longcoats, heavy weapons, Soviet Tanks, etc.
SO MY PLAN IS.
Since the WWII minis are very cheap and come in good quality (as good as any Warhammer mini), I am going to use the Vostroyans as my Veterans, and the Cossaks as my Regular guardsmen. They will be modified with Lasguns and be on appropriate stands. Hammers and Sickles will be swapped with Skulls and Double Headed Eagles. Etc.
However, i come with a problem.
I like to play at GW stores.
But I have a feeling it wouldn't be too popular of me to be bringing in Minis of another line that isn't Citadel.
So I have question:
Do you personally have any problems with playing Warhammer with any other minatures other than those that are strictly for Warhammer?
Have you ever encountered somebody who had something bad to say about non-citadel miniatures?
If you are a Redshirt or know a Redshirt, do they have problems with non-citadel Miniatures?
Anything Ive ever read about GW indicates that you cant use non GW minatures in most GW stores.
Currently play: 4000+ of Black Legion
I dont know, i have played for a couple of years at gamesworkshop manchester (UK) and have seen loads of stuff there that may be considered "non" citadel including home cast minis and stuff from other ranges hell at the annual tank battle i saw a guy using a valkyrie that was infact a gi joe helicopter with a couple of IG guns stuck on it.
i say that if you model them appropriately and like you said stick las guns on them all and maube give them some bits of armour so they look more like the vostroyans i cant see a problem in any pick up game of 40K, i would be overjoyed to see such an inovative use of traditonal scale war minatures.
the only issue i can for see is if you are playing in official or semi offical tournaments.
Usually, GW-sanctioned events require use of models that are primarily made of GW models. When playing just against other players, it's whatever that player is okay with; we're usually okay with you using just about anything you want, to some degree. I've heard some stores not letting people play if they have the incorrect models, so there's always the danger of that, but I wouldn't expect it in most stores (plus, who wants to play at a store with managers like that?).
