so I got some purity seal the other day, I figured it would be great because the new chaos black spray is amazing and i sprayed it on a chaos lord i spent a good three hours on in addition to a star wars miniature i had repainted and it frosted them both to the point where i can't even use them...I shook the can for at least two minutes and i sprayed it upside down a little, so its obviously a problem with the product, why does gw have to try and fix something that isn't broken, then make it worse in the process? I am so unbelievably pissed off right now just thinking of all the wasted time...does anyone know of any other way to make it not ruin my work?
chaos marines have the chaos gods on their side, but space marines have games workshop on theirs
There has already been a thread about this: http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...-frosting.html
Well, GW aren't allowed to sell it to you without warning you. It was recalled about a year ago and hasn't been re stocked since. I thought it was a commonly known fact that it ran a high risk of frosting minis.
Are you stalking Spammy? You are posting in so many of the threads that i have posted in...
Thanks for the facts, I did not know that they called it back in a year ago, I brought one 2 years back and it hasn't frosted... yet...
Yeah it's not fun when things like that happen. Never had it happen with my varnish though, thankfully.
Although i did go to varnish a plague marine i had spent a decent amount of time on the other day and ended up spraying the whole front of it black again as i had picked up my primer that sucked.
Maybe try a varnish solvent, you might be able to remove the layer and possibly save the mini.
hindsight is a wonderful thing, but after having this happen to me once I now test all sprays and other such things I don't 100% trust on some old, night goblin, non important models first.
better be safe than sorry!
Because I answer first *win*
Anyway Spammy, lets take this conversation to the chat room, we are filling up the forum with useless junk...
Ask me about the Black and White Space Marine on the Black and White Bike!!!
Frosting has to do with a lot of things, mostly humidity. Make sure it ain't humid or you will be severely dissapointed with your model, unless you intended him to be in a snow storm. A good way to prevent this is to have a test model. I have some random crappy painted marine from god knows where that i keep by the area I spray. Before I seal anything important I spray good ole frosty first. Wait a few minutes (you usually notice any frosting immediately) to make sure the coast is clear and then proceed to spray or wait another day.
