Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hello there, you many fine peoples who lurk the interweb. I have been playing Warmachine and 40k for some time now and am looking to break up the monotony with another miniature war game. i am thinking of something on the skirmish scale of things so that we do not have to invest all of our hard earned money and would be quick and easy to pick up. I have played mordheim so other suggestions would be more welcome. I would prefer something in the fanasy setting, but am open to anything.
I would, but the group of people I playwith have denounced D&D years past because of things like THAC0 and are not willing to budge towards the d20 system. We play mostly mini wargames and are looking for something on a smaller scale than fantasy but somehting different.
Thanx for the reply though.
Was there a reason you're not just playing Mordheim if you've tried it? Knowing what you didn't like about might help us suggest a better game.
Necromunda is probably the best skirmish level game I've played, but it's not fantasy so you might not like it (although the rules are free on t'internet)
At first glance I'd have said Mordheim, too, but you should also check out some of the rules systems that don't have models. If I can find the thread I'll link here, but someone once mentioned 2-3 companies out there which put out rulesets, some of them free, for play with 28mm models, then go on to say that basically any models will do. In other words, they supply the rulebooks, you supply the models, from pretty much any range you want, so long as they are the right size.
So if you like, say, WHFB models, but hate the rules, or don't want a big epic game like that, this might be the route for you. All you'd need is the books and, say, 1 box of models, plus some converting on your part. Cheaper and maybe even more fun, depending.
i've recently gotten into flames of war, not a skirmish game perse, but it can be played with very few models, especially the recent polizei & partizans kit. Obviously not fantasy but WW2, but i found it a nice new diversion.
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

These rules cost nothing and many are far better defined and deliver better game play than 40k!
