Earlier today I played in a 1250 doubles with my Tomb Kings, and won what I came to win, best painted (and theme surprisingly enough). So I'm not like OMG mad/moaning I'm happy I won. And yes before I bitch I realize this sort of stuff always comes up in tournaments because it allows your inner douchebag to come out.
I'm complaining about army comp, there should be some restrctions you'd think on your list so everyone would have desent comp. Sorry about the vagueness as I don;t really know how to phrase this properly. But it's just as a poor TK player I had to face a daemons allied with VC list where all their characters were lvl 2 wizards. And they all had some sort of bound spell that did 2D6 hits on them. Not to mention one of the Characters was Manfred the acolyte with his black perapit saving dispell dice!
It was a cheese list and I gave him a 0 score for comp and sportsmanship (because these guys weren't good sports what so ever, with the worst lists possible making the loss that much more of a heartbreak). I guess it would be A. do think this is right and B. do you think there should be list restrictions of some sort.
Note: I can write out their lists to the best of my ability if you'd like. I'd also like to admit that both me and partner had 6 characters but 4 were liche priest while the others were princes that's just how TK's work plus people could actually dispel OUR magic.
B. If it was a legal army and within the tourement rules then what more do you want?
You said said you won what you wanted to win, so whats your beef?
Oh and well done for winning best painted and themed army!
I also took part in a doubles torny yesterday with Rhyno (the guy who doing the genstealer cult army on the painting/modeling forum). We used his genestealer cult (counts as I.G) and my Khrave and Barghesi (counts as Orks). We both took quite stong lists and came joint second overall. I also think there was a prize for best painted army which i think i may have won but i was in the toilet when they said who had won so i will have to wait till the results are posted on the club forum. I will post a link to the results when they are up.
My point is it's just a game at the end of the day, if your gonna cry about losing to other people you should look into playing a 1 player game then you can win every time. And if you lose then it's only yourself you have to blame.
I AM BOOMER!
It sounds like if you were able to give him a 0 for a Comp Score, there was a composition score in place that is there to try and help balance armies. These guys were willing to take the 0 and play the army that they did.
I'd have to agree with Boomer. I don't think you were right to give zero points at all, unless they were complete dicks (In which case, I guess its someone justifed.) The fact that they took a 'cheese' list to a tourny, to be fair, isn't bad. I mean, surely you should have expected the possibility of coming up again such a list, given that it was a tourney you were attending.
Also, given that it was a tourney, I assume you all had to pay some sort of entry fee... this twinned with the assumution that their armies had been bought, built, and painted by themselves, means that, to be quite honest, they are quite entitled to take what ever army they wish.
But like I said, unless they were being nasty, rules lawer like and/or cheating, then I don't think they should have been marked down for it at all really.

I've seen 2 good systems, one where it was 2250, powerful armies got 2000 points and the weaker ones got 2500 (can't remember where). The other is this (bottom of teh page). To be honest, at least for WHFB, the point system is not balanced, meaning your choice of army decides who wins and thats not fair.I'm sure it was a pretty nasty match, but essentially if the comp system does what its sposed to they won't have done very well in teh placings. These guys were willing to take the 0 and play the army that they did.
They actually won best general...Or as I like to call it Biggest douchbag award. Which fits...
Agreed TK are just one of the weaker armies in WHFB out there. While Daemons and VC are 2 of the strongest. Unfortunatley TK wouldn't be able to do much with extra points but it's a unique system. I'll suggest it the directer next time I see him (soon enough).
Note: The only reason I call it that is that fact that when I won it with my deathwing a few years back a staff member toodl me that I won the biggest douchebag award. We all had a good laugh.
Tournaments are meant to be fun. However, they are also a competition. And while a lot of people play the game for the fun factor, still a lot of people are very competitive. They play to win. You have to take these people into consideration when going to tourneys, otherwise you'll be in for a whooping. As a matter of fact, it is at tourneys where I see many people bring out their "strong" lists. I don't think it's fair to dink them on comp for bringing an ultra-competitive (cheese) army. However, what I will penalize them for is their sportsmanship and attitudes if they were being jerks, trash-talking a lot, or trying to rules-lawyer everything.
