Well back from the First heat of the GT, and it went ok I felt. Im gutted I didn't make it though, but I would think they would maybe offer the runners up places if people can't make it for the final...but we shall see.
But anywhoooo the weekend happenings of The local mod foxeh!
The day started of slowly. Which was understandable considering I had only gotten 3 hours sleep. But then thats what you get when you leave painting and preping your Army for the UK 40k GT. So kids, theres a lesson to be learnt!
When one knows he has a GT in 1 and a half months, he should be able to get his army done in PLENTY of time! If how ever, he finds himself painting his army in the last few days...Something has gone wrong somewhere.
But the army itself was legal, and that was all that mattered. It was my first GT, and I didn't think rushing and ruining my army was worth it. (Next year however IT WILL BE DONE MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA)
After getting into Nottingham Decado and I decided to go to Lenton for Half an Hour.....4 hours laters and we left with big grins and a bag or two of GW related bits.....Im sorry but when you can order Mailorder bits, and get them with half an hour....NO ONE can resist.
After being the 3rd and 4th ones at the front door in the morning we got talking to a few gamers, who we would stay with as a group for the weekend. I will not name names, so people will have odd stand in names instead. (If by any chance you guys read this, tis was cool meeting you all.) First off there was =][= dude, a guy with an =][= army, then there was Dude from Glasgow.
Anywho, after getting in, my first army was Eldar =x_X= and the guy who shall be known as Mad Dude from Liverpool pointed out to me my list was illegal =O_O= I could not take assualt troops in transports, even if they didn't have their jump packs on. And with 15 odd minutes till the start, I was running around like a mad fox trying to find the GW dude who ran the thing.
The major down side to this ment that all my plans were thrown out of the window. So the first game was a nightmare, and needless to say the Domini Vulpes got their tails kicked 20 - 0.
However the guy had pointed out to me that my list was wrong, and it was one of those mad games where you just have fun and enjoy yourself.
Game 2 had me facing up aganist a Tau player who would have lost 20 - 0 himself in the first round. Now seeing as I had never played Tau before, this had me worried.
The game itself was good, despite losing 13 - 7. However, a new hate developed for Tau and their "Move - Shoot - Run Away tactic" which had me close to buying 2000 points of Tau there and then =^__^=
Game 3, and the might of my fluffy fox plush mascot kicked in, and I was put up against a drop troop army of Guard.
At this point, I needed a win. Being near the bottom of the table wasn't a nice view, and considering the IG player had 3 points, and I had 7, and the 3 poor souls under us had nothing.....
Either way I needed a win if I was to have any hope of getting through to the final.
The game was great I thought, and not once in the day had I done up vs an arsey gamer. (Though Dacado had lost his first game in 6 years to a cheesy iron warriors army consisting of 9 of those walking tanks known as Orblitorators(sp?) and 3. Yes THREE defilers. And on top of that, the guy had been not only an arsey gamer, but a cheat, so so people had said.
Either way, I got my win other the IG drop troop army, and picked up 13 points. So the end of the day saw me sitting on 20 gaming points. Tomorrow was going to be a very important day.
That evening saw us sat in Bugmans until 11, chatting to the group of gamers we had meet at the beginning, as well as one or two others we had meet during the day.
Round 4 saw me going up against Dark Angels in a cleanse match. It was a great game, as well as a very sporting one, which put me on to 3 Awesome games, and got me 5 points to add to my overall score.
A note to all you cool people who are still sporting, and think that Sportmanship hasn't died. It pays. So don't ever stop being a cool gamer to play against!
that game bagged my 17 points! But would later end up gutting me, as I was 19, yes 19!! VP's off a 20 - 0 win =;_;=
However I'm still not bothered, as I think the game was that much fun, that the guy deserved the 3 points.
I was up against Dark Eldar =O_O= And my first thoughts were "Oh Crap" again, another army I hadn't had much experiance in playing against.
So think of my surprise when I ended up getting a draw!
10 - 10! YES
On 47 gaming points, the final was in sight! I knew Dacado would get through, since he was on the higher tables at this point.
It was going to be close though, and I would need to pick up something from the next game.
Speed Freaks. &**$^£$^ WHY, WHY?! Meh, again, an army I hadn't played against. But having said that, I was feeling sorry for the guy who had played 3 out of the 9 Iron Warriors armies! =O_O=
The game itself was alright. but when it came up to counting VP's I was expecting to find myself with a 20 - 0 loss, but was surprised again when I picked up 7 points.
When the results came through, I went up to the list of people who had got into the final. Dacados name was there, and there were one or two others which made me smile as I was glad that they had gotten through...but the one name I couldn't see, was my own.
And seeing the score sheet made it worse. I was 53rd. One point off from getting through. (Remember the 4th Round vs DA? Yup....Remember those 18 VPs? Yup. =>__<=)
But I wasn't annoyed...just gutted. I mean it was close, VERY close. As I said, I was happy that peoples from the group we had been with all weekend were there, and the Dark Eldar player I had played against was there too. So best of luck to them.
I'm hoping theres a chance that some people will drop ot, but we've been told that the runners up won't get the spots if that happens, so meh.
Either way theres next year. And the army will be cool by then and I WILL take a top 20 place.
But the main thing is, I had fun, Got to see Lenton and play at Warhammer World.
But I will be back, and entering many more Tourneys.
But until next year!!

Aye, the tables are really good looking, but mind you, anyone can make tables like them. Its just GW have the money to do so heh.
I love that beach head board.
Did you see the castle board? Thats my personal favourite.

Don't think so. Saw a table with that massive ruined church. That looked cool.
As well as a few other bits and bobs that caught my eye
