Hello people, i actually managed to buy the new rules book and after a quick read all over i got the impression that through all the changes one main u turn happened.
Although usually games used to be decided in close combat, this 4th Ed will mainly affect shooting. Close combats now will be over in 2 cc phases at the most, while it's shooting that can make the game.
In my opinion people no longer will just throw units in close combat so that they will not be shot at because in close combat as it now stands they can very easily die in a turn.
(Rapid) Weapons are now much better and deadlier.
Buildings and ruins now give you a better cover.
Line of sight rule
This are only some pointers to show some changes without going against copyrights.
Although not apparent at first strike IMP 4 Ed will definately make prevail shooty and horde armies. For the horde armies to make it they really need to get a move on because anything in the field is dead in a short number of turns..
Sorry for spelling mistakes, English is not my first language....

Sounds really cool. More good news to us Tau players .
Oh and sorry about this but its Emphasis.
it means you have to actually think about what you are doing which can't be a bad thing.
You mean they 'buffed' shooting. They nerfed transports so that we cant assault out of them anymore (with some exceptions)
Actully rapid fire weapons are a double edged sword. i too have the new rulebook and if u fire rapid fire weapons (not just rapid firing them, but fire them at all) yu cant assult.
It makes tyranids twice as strong, and even stronger, seeing as the new changes in the recently revised FAQ's (muaha all attacks within 5" of combat for guants )

I tell you who REALLY became powerful with the new rules are the Eldar Guardians.
They used to be crap but now they have several advantages. Their weapon is assault 2, not rapid fire, which means that they can take two shots and still charge.
Also, because of the rending rule, they are actually dangerous to space marines now. A couple of squads of guardians can reduce a squad of marines to dust in one average turn of shooting now, which is just plain nice.
Now if only they would update those damned Eldar models, then I would consider playing them...
yes. finally my 90 guardians will be usefull now! but we have to wait for the eldar codex to be re done in the summer because it isnt listed in the rulebook.
and i happen to like the eldar guardians the way they are now
