I am not sure this is the right place, so if not, sorry and feel free to move.
So am looking a starting up a second army (I play space marines) I am looking for an army that is very small (number of models) and elite. I would like to play this army, but it is more for fun then competitive, so optimizing everything is not what I am looking for. What army do you guys think would have possibilities? I am looking at tau right now, they seem like a lot of fun, but lets see what everyone thinks.
Well eldar are an option, they're small and a powerful force to field on the table, with all the different aspects. It makes for a grand time painting them too, as each unit is essentially unique. and obviously because there Elves in freakin Space, man!!! xD
I assume Morgan Freeman is the voice of the Emperor.

Well, if you are looking for an elite taskforce-like army, either Daemonhunters or Dark Angels Deathwing would probably fit the bill. Each of their basic troopers are extremely expensive but powerful. You will always be outnumbered but troop-for-troop you will be superior to any opponents.
You could also play nidzilla or chaos daemonzilla. Basically its a tyranid or chaos daemon army consisting of mainly monstrous creatures and minimal troops. You'll even be outnumbered by the Grey Knights or Deathwing if you do so, but your guys will dominate in smaller point games (1500 or less).
Record: Win - Loss - Draw: Hive Fleet Pandora (New) 32-6-6 Space Wolf 7th Co. 52-11-6
Blood Angels 12-4-2 Daemonhunters 20-8-3
Imperial Guards 12-5-2 Daemons 8-3-2
Nob bikers, if you break 40 models with the army you'll be the first one
2x Warbosses on bike, 2x 10xman Nobz on bikes with Painboyz, cyborks and lots of Power Klaws, then some filler (grotz/deffkoptas seem pretty standard)
If you're just looking for a low model count, this one has one of the lowest while still being functional.
Blais's Paint Studio-Getting broken armies good soft scores since 2009
Yeah, I had been thinking of orks as well. Nob bikers do seem like they would be pretty fun (to play and to model.) I would like to stay away from SM as that is what I already play. Nids seem like they could be fun also, perhaps I will see what is in there new Codex when it comes out.
What do guys think of a battle suit heavy tau force? I like idea of a shooty army, but I am still not sure how I feel about the models...
