Hey guys, it seems that im having a hard time getting into fantasy, I love their rules!
but unfortunatly my army choice wasnt the best, I picked Lizardmen, and although I love the models to death, and their fluff isnt too bad, They lack tactics...
Outragous you say? lizardmen have so many tactics!
perhaps they do, but Im just not finding them, and heres the problem.
Im one of those people who buy first and think it over later(shocking!) because of the looks of the models.
This is how I play tyranids as my main army (But I love tyranids!!!!!) dont even get me started on tyranids I wont stop...
anyway, I have about 2500 points worth if lizzies, if wysiwyg isnt exactly followed, but im not a huge fan of that rule, being tyranids and all >.>
anyway im wondering to convert the lizardmen to bio-matter or not?
and after that maybe get wood elves, because frankly I love their models, and have their codex, and the lists I come up with scare me, they are simply terror incarnate,(maybe not as good as others but much faster to deliver the terror)
anyway any help would be appreciated!!
You are not the first to suffer from this problem.
I also buy models (or convert them) only to find out they are not as good as i was hoping.
I think the only soloution is to look at why are in this hobby?
Is it becuase you love the background, models, converting, painting or the chance to play a cool games with storylines and the chance to build your own legends?
If yes then you should not worry your doing everything right.
Or is it because you have to win every game and background/modes/paint jobs be dammed?
The game is only there so we have a reason to use the models we have.
I lose (alot) but i never moan becuase it's the taking part that is fun for me not crushing other peoples dreams into the ground. I mean who cares if you win or lose?
It's all about having fun and enjoying yourself and helping others enjoy themselves. If your into this hobby for any other reason you will end up bitter and sad like all the members of Whineseer.
I AM BOOMER!
How comfortable are you with the rules for movement and psychology? I ask because you mentioned having trouble with tactics, and because Wood Elves are known for large numbers of skirmishers. Might you still have a 40k mindset towards WHFB? Throne knows I had trouble retraining myself to see position, fear and SCR as being equally important as killing prowess...often more so.

Sorry let me re-phase something, its not that im not finding the tactics for LM, its just that I dont like them...
I just really want a manuverable army that I have to be be very cautious with, because right now with the new tyranid rules I havnt lost a match yet, even against those damned eldar.
so im really looking for a hard army to play, where I will lose if im not careful, and I love the fear, and psycology factor of warhammer, so wood elves seems like a good choice
Well, seeing as I play both wood elves and lizardmen, I will give you my two cents worth. Personally, I like tactics. To me, it is like a chess match, where you have to be thinking ahead at all the possibilities, and figuring out your best move. If this is what you are looking for, then wood elves is definitely an army for you. The aren't a top tier army at the moment, but they can still be fun to play with. Now I went to lizardmen because I wanted to try some magic. The game becomes a little less about movement and tactics, but you still have some thinking to do about spell targeting, and order. And trying to protect your investment. If you are playing with saurus characters, you can still get into the tactical movement aspect of the game, just not as much as wood elves do.
Wood elves are still my favorite army, but I like the lizardmen as well, just because it is a really large change of pace. I you only can have one, then wood elves sound like the army for you. But if you can afford both, I would keep the lizardmen and pick up a wood elf army, and switch between them, depending on what you feel like playing at the moment.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
Hmm suprisingly the Idea of keeping both never came to me... Do'h
I probably could afford it but for the moment im jobless, but will have an apprentaship soon, they dont pay great right away but should do fine,
the only problem is im trying to expand my main army to apocalyptic size, and im going to need so many gargoyles.......
but that actually sounds like a decent Idea, and the fact that I NEED to paint woodelves because of the awesomeness of their models, if you could close the thread sirkently?
unless you think there will be more input, Really I dont care but just a heads up
