I was on GW's US site today because i was bored and was reassured that the Chaos Hounds are the worst models out, for GW, in my opinion.
Why you ask. Well to limit the amount of plastic used the dogs come in two halves, like a lot of cavalry beasts. but unlike most horses and what not the Warhounds have a huge, ugly, and overall huge and ugly flaw!! That is that giant seem down the middle. It is a huge distraction to an otherwise cool model. And on the tutorial they didn't plug the gap and the blog should Mark somethings new Beastman army and his Warhounds have the same thing! He didn't try hiding the flaw either. Even the pictures they have on the Warriors of Chaos product list are not with out a little bit of flaw (but then again some photo shop was probably involved)
So thats why I think these models are no good. They are made with a giant seem, and no one i have seen has done anything about it. I recently bought some of the new hounds ( I had the old metal ones and I wanted to add more) and have yet to paint them because I just don't like that seem. The thing is though, is that the seem goes down the whole back and where the hair is is very difficult to get good looking green stuff in there.
So what do you all think? Has anyone filled the seem successfully? or am I the only one that hasn't?
Repainting Orks not sure how many points yet
Warriors of Chaos shelved until further notice
I put some together, and I can assure you that it really doesn't look bad at all, in person. I didn't think the seam stood out at all, on mine.
That said, I've switched over to Wargs from the LotR line, cause they're much cooler, on the whole--less...gribbly. I use them for Flesh Hounds in my DoC army.
Once again, the conservative, sandwich-heavy portfolio pays off for the hungry investor!
I must admit, I didn't think the models were that bad, I've certainly seen worse in the current model selections.
