I was wondering what everyone else thought, i have 7 armies: Necrons, Orks, CSM's, BT's, Tyranids, IG & SoB but i want to add another 4 armies: DE, Eldar, DA's & BA's is that a good idea or am i just crazy to want so many armies thanx.
Whats crazy is peolple our age playing with toy soldiers. Nothing wrong with wanting lots of armies anymore than wanting one very big one.
Jager bombs. Very efficient at wiping out friend or foe.
Good idea or crazy...
Can't it be both?
But many gamers have very short attention spans, when I see that you have 7 armies I think that about you, only unlike many of those other gamers you keep your armies. Many sell them, to pay for part of the new army, this will likely only save them 1/3-1/2 of the money they'd spend on the new army. Then they go sell their new army after 6 months and sitch again.
You have an advantage over these gamers, when you wish to grab an Imperial Guard army you run and take them out of your case, rather than getting bored with your current army until one day you snap and sell it for a new army. I have two armies with very different playstyles (Dark Eldar and Imperial Guard) and if I get bored of one I can easily switch it up and try something completely different.
Also you will have an advantage in that you will know what just about every army is capable of, what many units can do where your opponent may not know that about your army, especially if you're using one of your more rare armies.
On the other hand it is crazy to spend that much on models.
The Emperor Protects
IG Best Gen 1st overall of 10 DE 4th overall of 6
Eldar 3rd Overall/Best General of 26--2nd Overall/Best General of 7--1st Overall/Best General of 11
I would really have to say both.
Make it a poll
I have 4 armies for 40K.
And I'm the same as you in that sense. I need to buy a new case so I have one for Tau/Death Guard and another for Templar/Guard. However they dont have the aquilas on the front anymore.
As long as you limit yourself or plan with each army as taking them in excess gets really really bad for storage sometimes/eventually. Especially if you have to move house or flat.
Also I'd be tempted to look back at your current armies, 1 after the other and think, is there anything I want to change/could improve with these? Thats the best thing to do before bringing something completely new into the fold.
As I'm no longer 100% happy with any of my armies. (1 not finished, 1 needs a new paint job, 1 needs a full overhaul and Templar need a slight re-shuffle of pts)
