Hi guys! I just got my ticket, and I was wondering who else is going. And more importantly, who is going in costume? I, for one shall be attending dressed as an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor
I shall be going as a GD virgin I'm bringing my mate who's also a GD virgin along for the ride too
I'm not going in costume however, mostly because we're going on a roadtrip GD weekend and I don't much feel like driving around in power armour
It'd be good to put faces to names if I saw any of you guys!
GD is truly, truly awesome. There's nothing like your first GD If you spot a guy in a long black coat and a half bionic face and pointed little goatee, that's me
Haha I'll look out for it!
Wow... Only 2 of us going this year... It'll be a lonely GD Or maybe the others are just shy?
I've got mine the day the tickets came out about 4-5 months ago, I'll be joining the Golden Daemon once again, I'd advise anyone who is going to join it as well because you'll be able to be let onto Gamesday early; last year me, my 'lil brother and 'lil sister got in 45 minutes early! - well worth the trouble of painting up a miniature
You don't need to be a godlike-painter just to be accepted, just pick up a miniature/squad/tank that you've already painted (or if you're willing paint up a miniature for the occaision if you want), fill in the Entry form and Presto! You're a Golden Daemon competitor AND you might get in early .
Me, my 'lil brother and my 'lil sister will be coming and joining the Golden Daemon competition and I've been going for the last 3 years, so I pretty-much know my way around. Don't worry about getting lost, as its pretty hard to do so with just 3 very large rooms, it's the crowds that get to you .
We should have someone from LO be there with some name tags and a small selection of LO T-shirts, just for the occaision. Just name a place and a time I'll be there to meet you guys for a few minutes, sometime after lunch perhaps? I've got to hit the stalls with the best stuff before they sell out!
I'll see you all there, eh?
*Gets back to painting hordes of miniatures*
EDIT: I've just noticed this on GW website, does this year's GDUK seem significantly smaller this year? I noticed one less room than usual. Considering that there's going to be 8-9k people attending its going to be a lot more crowded than normal, there are smaller 'side-rooms' around the LG arena but still, it looks like GW's making cut-backs to widen those profit-magins I guess.
I feel cheated

I'm off too! I wanted to build a bolter but my plasticard hasn't come yet so i wont be able to do it this time. NEXT YEAR IT SHALL BE DONE! This will be my secxond GD and i am hoping for it to be as fun as last time.
It'll be my first GD this year also, the main reason I'll be attending is to see how far my painting skills get me in the Golden Demon (though I doubt I'll make it through the first round tbh).
I've no idea what to be expecting, but I'll be arriving on the Loughborough/ Leicester bus.
Hey guys answer me this; why are you going?
Don't get me wrong I used to love gamesday but now GW has removed all the reasons I loved to go...
- Buy Anything: Battlegear, Sabretooth Games, Warhammer Monthly you could buy anything at the old gamesdays now the only items you can't get from your local store is FW and I'd rather order online then be in those chaotic cues.
- Upcoming Stuff: I could remember seeing Ogre Kingdoms and Space Marines 6 months in advance, now you only get to see what you've already seen on the web.
- But Most Of All; GAMES: All those big and crazy games are history; nearly all the stores are one man and can't find the time to paint that many miniatures. Also this year GW told the GCN they could only run standard games of 40k using GW terrain, boards and basic rules, no games based off movie scenes, races or minigames.
Unsurprising most of them refused and only 1 or 2 clubs will be attending this year.
Personally I think it's not worth the £30, unless your entering golden daemon. However all 10 people coming from my store are going as a squad of scouts so keep an eye out for them.
