Welcome to Librarium Online!
Was interested if you guys come across many people who use one deamon army for both 40k and fantasy,
one guy i know mounts all square bases and 99% of people let him play 40k with them, the other guy i know uses round bases for all but mounts them in movement trays.
(think it could be war of the ring ones but im not sure if those are the same base sizes? clarification??)
so anyway, i think it makes sense, and would gladly play either, the trays rank up properly and the squares dont really put you out much in 40k, but last week i saw a guy go mad and refuse to play either of them, saying he/they should pick a game and stick with it.
is this fair? whats your take?

Personally Id play, but they I would insist on round bases for 40k. If they have movement trays in fantasy it wouldn't really matter sine it "puts them" in a square base.
GW intended that the models would be useable for both games so I certainly would not refuse playing him for attempting it. I'd applaud the chap for trying to play both games. The War of the ring trays work perfectly for ranking up daemons with round bases so they can be used for fantasy. Properly base the tray and it will hardly ever give you trouble, either gamewise or visually.
I guess I'd like them to have round bases, because they've got round bases in 40K and with war of the ring trays they can easily be played as if they had square bases in fantasy, it just makes it that little bit more efficient. I wouldn't whine if he had square bases in 40K though.
Iíve had always asked if itís ok to use my square bases in a 40k tournament and it has. If itís a game breaker for ya, that cool too. We can play someone else. Plenty of fish in the sea.
Square base will give slightly smaller deepstrike footages for blood crushers and will make a difference if youíre trying pile more than 60-some man size models around one bloodcrusher square base.
Other than that, daemons are like stealers, the arms stick out and you cant real get 100% base contact with ether base types so it make little difference.
In the nearly 2 years of playing daemons, no one has protested. When a questions arises, Iíll always side in the other players favor.
