i currently have a 1800 point slaanesh chaos army soon to be around the 2500 points once i get a few extra things after i get those i was looking at making a 2nd army
i have got some ultermarines allready and was thinking of adding a few more to it to make it to a 1000 points army (mainly by getting the assault on black reach)
but im also interested in orks and imperial guard or necrons, which would be best im shinning away from sm as i all rdy have csm so orks, imperial guard, necrons what would be best
give us a list of pros and cons. the armys that the other guys have are black templar. ultermarines, chaos space marines, Tau, orks and tyranids,
any advice would be helpfull
Not necrons, I really don't need to go into them very much, but at their current level, like tau, I believe them to be underpowered, so you will probably not be very happy playing with them.
Imperial guard and orks both got new codexs and are very viable and have a bunch of fun builds surrounding them. IG have awesome tanks, just awesome and they have straken who is nifty and the sweet new vendettas and Valkyrie models. Orks are just fun to play with, but both of these armies are horde armies which could be fun after only having 35-60 models at 2000 points, you then jump to about 100. It just depends if you like vehicles or you like tons of orks whether they arrive by truck or foot, you'll be painting a lot of green.
cool cool. i was looking at both the orcks and IG battleforces but i dont know how much they are worth points value. so if any 1 has a rough idea would be greatfull ive got a imperial guard basi which is broking but i can repair and modifi alittle but also the assault on balck reac is also an option as it would also give me extra toops to build a bigger SM army and have an ork army hmm cant deside
Both the orc and imperial guard battleforce are only about 250 points if geared out competitively. Just to give you an idea, an imperial guard force at 1500 pts will consist of roughly 60 troops and 6-8 vehicles (just to give you some idea of what you would be buying). Orcs are quite similar, but their competitive builds vary as they can successfully use both vehicle heavy and foot slogging armies. So you are looking at something like 80 orcs and 5 vehicles + some walkers in a 1500 pt game. If you are comfortable with those numbers, both are great picks.
Alternatively, I would not completely rule out the necrons. As of right now, as previously mentioned they are lacking in turns of unique builds and competitiveness. They are getting a new codex and models within the next year many speculate. If you could hold on a bit then it may be worth while to see what is happening with the necrons.
Tau my love! You are back!
I'd go with Orks.
As you say, you're interested in getting AoBR to boost your Ultramarines so it feels like the logical step to me. Everything the Orks get in the starter set is solid, they're units you'd definitely consider using so it's a pretty good deal when you look at what you'll be getting that's relevant to you.
If you do decide to go with Necrons, get them now before GW start selling half-sized boxes at current prices :p
Maybe i was too quick to rule out necrons. Lets put it this way. I love necrons and have 500+ dollars set aside if i believe they can have a better variety of lists, and of models. SEE forgeworld tomb stalker. But, if you play necrons you have to be ready to lose alot ATM, until a new codex is released, or roll with max destroyers and 2 monoliths at 1500.
