After attending the LO meet for the 1st time this year, I was wondering what people thought about an LO tournament
Has anyone tried this before?
Would anyone be interested?
I would be interested, depending on where it is held.
I was thinking warhammer world
Sounds like fun, 40k and/or fantasy? And who would organise it?
Either or both, depending on interest, and I could attempt to organise it, unless someone with more experience(compared to my none) wanted to.
Would be the furthest north ive ever been for a few games, but thats not the end of the world.
Would be happy to lend a hand organising if you wanted some help (im currently looking at setting up a league and tournament down my neck of the woods (dorset) with prizes - so if anyone is interested, let me know).
Any idea how much warhammer world charge? i imagine it might be a fair bit.
I appreciate the offer of help, I might take you up on that.
The cost depends on the size of the tournament, up to 10 tables is free though, so could do a 40 person doubles event on the cheap.
Here's the prices: http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m2000068a_Gaming_hall_hire_guide_23.09.11.pdf
I know its a long way for some people to come, so probably best make it a 2-dayer, to make it worth peoples while coming?

We had this idea a long while back.
The problem you will face is getting the interest mainly, as when I started the LO Meets, I was not sure just how many people would turn up.
If you have it as a seperate weekend, then you run the risk of having to force some Online Librarians to pick an event, and if you run it at the meet, then you run the risk of changing the feel of the meet from one of meeting people, and having a weekend of fun get-together games.
That said, I don't know how many people turn up to the meets these days, or whether or not that feel I just mentioned is still the same, so.
Eitherway, much luck with ze idea.

Looking at what Toastee said, i have to agree, generating the interest could be a problem.
I havnt been on this forum in a long time (excluding last month or so that ive been using it again) but from what i remember, its alot lot quieter than when the LO meets were first started.
If the intentional is to make it a specific LO tournament, then it could take us a year to get enough interested, and even then schedules conflicting could cause problems.
