How many of you actually have a painted army? I mean, in this site everything is about statistic and know something, so I wondered.. It's easy to say : "Hey I have a 3500pt army"
Maybe I should say that I don't consider a model, a real model to play with until it is painted. Im I the only one how feels this way? I ask 'corse I know this guy who play with his "Grey Army" (a army of OaG, and they're NOT painted. LoL)
Even a 2000pt army is big, there are many model, and if you are makeing your models loke just a little pretty, it takes houers. I use about 2houers to paint one HE Spearmen. I don't say I paint super perfect pretty, but my point is, that it takes some time to get a big army.
Im just curious
Hope is the first step on the road to dissapointment.
I don't have an army then
Will have it done in 2 months or so though. Only all the wolfriders, a chariot, a pumpwagon, 2 goblin regiments and a bounch of characters left to do
I was going to say something, until I was distracted by Wicked's avatar...so...bouncy...
*ahem* As I was saying, I mainly play 40K, and I feel the same way as Lotus, personally. I won't field a unit until I feel it's DONE. That being said, I don't hold it against someone when they don't have every unit painted to my personal standards- heck, it's their stuff. I do get tired of playing against the Great Grey Horde, as I indicated in a post a few months ago ( Search for "I am so sick of playing against unpainted armies!")
As long as the person is making progress each time, I'm cool with some unpainted models.
Marion: You're not the man I knew ten years ago.
Indiana: It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage.
For the last time, there are
NO FEMALE SPACE MARINES!!!!!
Yes but only SOME unpainted. Some time ago me and my frind played (40k) and I let him use his 4 Storm Troopers who were unpainted. Then it's no big deal, and he was finisch painting them a week later or so.Originally posted by RJSuperfreaky@Jan 7 2005, 05:22

I don't think I ever would play against a "Grey Army". (I've never played the one a mentioned either)
Painting is big thing in warhammer, and it would be sad not to paint, and who does not just LOVE the sight of a big battlefield, whit some nice terrian, and painted model fighting  I know I do

As someone who's only been playing four months, I find it necessary to field a few unfinished models. With my VC army, I have completed only 27 skeletons, so I put them up front and use unpainted but assembled ones in back. Other than that, I don't field unfinished models, mainly because I just don't like to. So I paint and paint and prime and drybrush and see no end in sight. But do I care if the opponent's got 'em done or not? Not really. I just want to play.
I have a painted dark elf and a painted Orc and Goblin army. I don't mind playing against unpainted armies as long as they are new armies and my opponent has had no time to paint them. What does drive me nuts is a friend of mine has had a wood elf army for about 7 years and has only managed to spray them white, it looks rubbish. I take pride in my army and think if it looks better than the opposition it is more likely to win
I am currently painting a khorne fantasy army, and won't play with it until I have enough painted models to field an army.
Helper monkey, bring me beer and donuts
I don't give a damn if my opponent uses grey mini's. Its not going to kill anybody, i appreciate it if they are at least glued tho'
I have several forces in varying states of painting. My Eldar BFG is painted, along with my BB Chaos, my Grey Knights were a self-proclaimed masterpiece (for my level of ability anyway, bless those finger paints). My DE and E and SM and Fantasy Khorne are all in a varied degree of detailing, from just basecoated to GT standard.
I really feel for the guy playing the 7 year undercoated wood elves, thats just lazy, i would at least have inked them : )
Many people rush their armies because of this sort of opinion and it can really demean a persons confidence to turn up with a badly painted army, and then get hounded for that and we all know it happens. I have been to clubs where the 'all painted or no play' law is in force, and its nice to see a well done force. But a lot of people don't have time or confidence to make a good job. Isn't it a trifle harsh to make someone ruin their army for the sake of an imaginary image?
I currently have 4 painted armys
1.5k Blood Angels
2k Dark eldar
The point values are about right, I may have more or less, but not by much. I definitely have more unpainted of each force, but they are not being counted.
I enjoy playing against fully painted forces, that’s why I play in Rogue traitor tourneys and GT's. But most of my friends drag their feet when it comes to painting, I am lucky to see one painted enemy unit on the field when I face them. Considering I have friends painting with me about ½ the time I paint myself you would think they would have one army painted by now.
I enjoy playing against them regardless though, and I am just glad that they have their own models for the most part.
i myself refuse to play with any of my unpainted minis. i have before, and they just end up getting slaughtered... and from that point on, it's like they're cursed.
back when i was still a world eaters player, i had a squad of 8 world eaters on bikes, converted to have the berzerker heads and with their arms up wielding chainaxes and everything... i had just finished converting them. they hadn't even been primed yet so you could still see the green stuff. i put them on the table, and they were annihilated by the end of turn 2. while it could have been because my opponent at the time saw them as a huge threat and thusly targeted them with everything he had... but from then on, they did pretty much squat. and then i sold them, and all was good.
as far as my opponent goes, i would *prefer* to play against a fully painted army with at least 3 colors, like the GT and RTT rules state. but if not, i'm not going to refuse a game... after all, the game is still the game, painted or not. it's just more fun if they're both painted.
I didnt used to have a painted army, then I started playing alot at the local GW, and theyre pretty tough on it, so now I have three, my Eldar, my DH and my Skinks (that last one was for a tournament tho)
