So they're increasing them, this info is from the Bugmans Brewery site. What's your thoughts?Bugman Posted: Fri Jan 14, 2005 2:48 pm
Confirmed are the 2005 price increases for the Uk. The price changes on the 4th of April, being a monday.
Basically all £15 regiment sets will rise to £18, whilst letters G, H and I will go up by £1, £2 and £3 respectively..
Now there is no explination for the letter rises, although i can guess why, but i will wait until i see the new plastics released.
GW's explination for the price rise is that they haven't risen/changed them since 2001. Now i can't remember if this is true or not, but i do know one thing, the box sets have indeed changed. I remember them coming out with a movement try and metal command figures, so they are no longer included. GW's words of "the models are better" is absolute tripe as well as i don't think they are.
Although shockingly, they do admit GW is an expensive hobby and that "if you wanted to get to A->B, which car would you use, a skoda or a porchse". The porche offers you comfort and speed but costs more".
If they had risen them by £1 each i could understand, but i believe GW is starting to price itself out of the market. There ARE better models and cheaper models (who wants a porchse anyway, its petrol rate is pathetic!
But like the rest of you, i am guessing that we will continue to buy no matter what they push the prices too
IMO it sucks, we pay more for a less than credible reason. But then, will I stop buying them? No. I'm a sucker.
*Sticks owned by GW label on chest*
Whoa there expensive enough if you think about it, i think it sucks badly and there kinda taking advantage because its so widespread.
Does that mean prices in other countries will go up too? If the HQ ones are it would kinda make sense, but I hope they don't...
I agree with what Bugman said, they are pushing themselves out of the market. I think if the prices rise too much more I will stop buying more and just stick with what I have (which is plenty!. It is a pity to see them do this, the models can't be that expensive to make and surely they don't need to keep jacking the prices up.
But the models are better. =o.o=
To say that they aren't is rubbish. But this doesn't mean that I feel that they should up the prices again. I am also thinking they are pushing them too far in areas.
I will still buy, but I think I'll probably be buying less this year. I want to try Confrontation anyway...sorry but anything with Werewolves in it, can't be that bad XD lol
Plus when you have other costly hobbies like Mountain biking and Paintball...lol
But to be fair, they were due an increase, so we all knew it was coming.

Personally, I have no problems with them increasing their prices occasionally. They are a business after all, and they want to survive. I have been into Games Workshop for nearly 15 years, I want to still have the option to be into it in another 15 years (quite apart from the shares I own in it) and I want them to have a working budget to be able to expand, employ talented designers and improve their ranges. For what they offer, I think they are still competitive.
ITS NOT A CHARITY, ITS A BUSINESS !!!! GET REAL!!!
Ryan Dancey, Vice President of Wizards of the Coast, believed that TSR failed because of "...a near total inability to listen to its customers, hear what they were saying, and make changes to make those customers happy." Are you listening, Games Workshop ?
I guess the bottom line is if you have the cash and are thinking of buying units then buy them now. Don't wait for GW to up the prices on you.
Aww nuts! :realmad:
Personaly, this sucks. I want to collect and play this hobby, but the price change is going to make it difficult. But I guess in saying this people will say "Shut up and get a job" or "Stop moaning" or similar.
And the models haven't got better, really. I mean, Orcs and Goblins still have 5th edtion Boar Boyz. Dogs of War and Chaos Dwarves haven't got anything this edtion so far.
The only armies which has got better models as far as I can see are the Chaos ones, and if I'm going to have to pay upto £3 more for my models because of 12 year old power-gamers, then I'm selling my models and E-bay and *gulp* taking up War Machine, or what ever it's called. I bet hobbists there get some respect.
You own shares in the great satan? You sell out!
Get a good return?

I guess we're in the same boat, then. Damn.Originally posted by Kaiser@Jan 15 2005, 120
Great, they raise prices just after i start playing. Just my luck. :/
Well, I might not get harshly affected by this, because I only get models two or three times a year (The nearest warhammer store is a 40 minute drive to Metrotown, Burnaby... but it's got tons of stuff...)
Well, maybe the extra money will get GW some new models and stuff... that would be pretty cool.
