So, I have been gone for 4 years. Wondering about some of these changes? Yes I have been in a cave.

Seems like a lot of the 40k is much more expensive, now adepts mechanics have their own force, and what is with the deathwatch? How are they really any different than the regular minis?

Any other info is greatly appreciated.

There's been a good deal of changes. Codex updates are the usual surprise but there's an awful lot of formations now that you can take. They have crossed over Apocalypse and 40k now so you can use these formations in normal games. Personally I think it's a bit OTT and its hard to keep track of what's what now with all the supplements and so forth but at least you have LOADS of options to chose from. It's just hard knowing what your opponent is up to!

Death watch. Not sure really as I haven't picked the set up but they get loads of buffs from having certain models in the unit as far as I can tell. Someone else will have to fill you in on them though as my knowledge is basically just from the odd glance at facebook posts.

Yeah, was looking at some of the products available.. Looks like a massive increase in 4 years. I look at the deathwatch figures, and think they look like more artistic space marine models. Might buy some just to make my black templars look more unique.

Then I see a boxed board game with nids, and looks like the log gene splices from the 80s and 90s, yet don't see those models in the nid line.

So many armies I want to make now.. Black templars (finish up). Blood angels. Grey knights. Dark eldar (finish up). Orc (finish up). Imperial guard. Nids. Hell, if I could, I would make a 5000 point army of eaEach zenos, plus the imperial factions I mentioned.

Heh, I forgot about the the genestealer Cult. Yeah, they're back from RT and 2nd ED. Games workshop killed it's specialist games but has started to release it's specialist/old school games as splash releases. The 'Stealer Cult was one. The one with Scouts Vs 'Stealers was another. I hear Blood Bowl and EPIC is going to happen at some point in the future too. I doubt Gothic and Inquisitor are going to happen at any time this decade though :(

Sounds like they brought back ovewatch... Plus for marines and ig against nids....

So how do you get the genestealer cult minis without purchasing the boardgame, and do they have tabletop stats now?..

And I don't understand these formations, I only know normal and expanded force organization charts.

I was using battlescribe to form my army list, and it is all in formations.. Grrr.. <shakes fist at GW>

You can't unless you buy them off ebay. But you might as well buy the boxed set considering you collect Marines.

Formations are ok. They give you options and buffs. Almost like a mini FoC. For marines you have things like the Demi-Company and the Company. If you field a full Company (Captain, Chaplin, 6 Tacs, 2 Assault & Devs) you get FREE transports. But that racks in at about 1500pts with no upgrades so if you actually make those 1500pts of models useful you miss out on the nastier stuff.

One I like is the Land Raider spearhead. 3 Land raiders and as long as they're within 6" of another 'Raider they ignore everything but 'destroyed' results on the damage table.

I was looking at the new kill team package that gw is selling,
Includes 1 sm tactical squad, and 1 Tau strike team. Price $65.

If you break down the price individually, you are looking at $40 for the marines, and $50 for the Tau.

I think the kill team is a good option for anyone that is wanting to build both a sm and Tau army. Savings of $25

Seeing as how I wantba blood angels and Tau army, I think this is great.

Templars just use the same formations as the Codex marines. They might have their own one but I haven't seen it.

The new boxes are very cool actually and people around me usually club together to buy a couple of sets between them. One generally wants one army and the other wants the other so it's a win win situation for them. I know a few people just buy a few sets to break down and sell on ebay. Especially when the sets come with the little rulebook. I bought the Spacewolf Vs Orks one purely for the rulebook and actually broke even on ebay by selling the Orks and Wolves. Basically netting me a rulebook for free.
