Most of us are aware by now of the impending price hike in GW merchandise, so far only mentioned on the UK website. We all feel this is bollocks but that's not what I'm here to discuss. Mostly I'm wondering about Canada in particular. I am curious to find out if we will even see a price hike in the Great White North.
Reason is that the prices of GW products in Canada are already higher than anywhere else. The reason is that they were raised to keep up with the difference between the Canadian and American dollars back in the late 90's. This meant that every Canadian dollar worked out to roughly $.60 US. Now that the Canadian dollar is doing much better (about $.77 US) and the US dollar is faltering somewhat, we Canucks are paying a great deal more than we should, if conversion rates are taken into account. To give an example, US customers pay around $20 for a codex, while we're paying $30. If the conversion rates were still in effect, we'd be paying around $25 or $26 or so. Because the prices are locked, we've been overpaying on our GW merch for years now.
Now I can't believe that GW would actually ignore Canadian prices in their greedy grab for more money, so are Canadian prices going to go up along with UK and US prices? Or will our prices stay relatively the same to make up for the current price gap?
I being Canadian, SURE HOPE NOT!!!!!! We're already getting ripped off as it is, now before ya'll flamez me, I thinkg that GW is a great company and without it I would be nothing but an unhappy loser, but now I'm a happy loser!! But I mean come on, we pay 40$ for a basic troop box, and 80$ for the transport combo. The only people not complaining about Can $$ is Americans, cause the're too busy laughing at us!!!!
