Today on the GW website the prices all changed for 40K miniatures! And Unless I've gone crazy the number of units in some of the boxs just dropped!
Yesterday a War Buggy was $15 and now its $25, the War Trukks price went down from 30-40something to $25 as well but still that makes it impossable for me to start an Ork army now. I though $30 buts for 2 warrbuggies, give both TL missile launchers and instant mobile firepower but now thats $50 for just 2, I would need 4!
This makes me not wanna even both with an Ork army now. I guess I'll just save longer and buy a SM army, I know I have in the past said I dont like having a ton of SM players around, that doesnt mean I dont like the miniatures, I was also thinking of IG but the guys at the GW told me not to becuase they know I dont have much money and that unless I put a ton into the army it would be very weak.
considering the 2 items you mention have been priced the same for a while now - i'll bet you misread the prices before!!!
It would be wonderful if the prices of products remained the same forever but sadly, this doesn't happen in any area of retail. The price increases, whilst unwelcome by most of us, are always going to happen from time to time and in all fairness to GW, it's been some time since their last increase.
With regards the Imperial Guard, I think the guy at GW did you a favour. He is correct in what he says about them being weak if you can't get many figures. Look at another way, if he knew you couldn't afford to spend a lot of money and yet still allowed you to buy the Imperial Guard it would have been wrong.
You don't have to use Space Marines either. Chaos, Daemonhunters, Witch Hunters and Necrons are all around the same build price as Space Marines.
Hang in there... prices do go up from time to time, let's just be glad GW don't do it as often as some companies.
Maybe in the UK but not in Canada buddy.Originally Posted by SlimeyUK
if you are correct then the only reason for that would be a mistake on GW's part. Check every other countries GW store in the world. Those 2 items are priced the same.
And when did you ever hear of GW reducing the price of anything?
I was at a GW mega battle on sunday and was looking at the Ork stuff. The Warbuggy was $17 and the Wartrukk was $40something. I look at their website and both are priced at $25, I am naturally confused seeing as how I just saw them the day before, with price stickers saying they were differnt.Originally Posted by SlimeyUK

Anyways, this also makes me really mad. The GW prices are already insanely high. The keep increasing prices, and will never drop. Forgeworld prices are even more ridiculus! 36 dollars for a Battlesuit that is slightly better than the original one! Heck. I can buy another Hammerhead for that (I get 10 percent discount from the Dugout Zone in MD). These are only pieces of plastic made from MOLDS. Oh yeah, 50 dollar rulebook? I'de rather hand copy all the words and pictures from a friends rulebook than pay 50 dollars!
Ok....ok... calm.... inhale-exhale inhale-exhale...
About the IG... You DO have to buy tons of boxes for only a few pts which is why I dont collect them.
---GW should make the prices the same for the amount of points!---
30 bucks for a couple points for an IG army while you get tons of points for a box of SM's for the same 30 dollars. Blister packs and bitz shouldnt be so high priced. 10 dollars for 1-2 miniatures in the blister and 1-3 dollars for a single bit. I might as well buy lunch with that money.

I get what you mean, thought. Prices should be PROPORTIONATE to the points cost e.g. you get, meh... about 140+ points per IG box and ab- waaaiitaminnit.... You actually already get a rough equal! 4 GK and Justicar- 150 Pts. 20 IG and 2 sarges (that's 2 squads)- 140 points. Their Cost? $30 each. New tac marines? 160+ points per box, $30 (I think). (So it's a better deal for guard. Of course, guard grunts suck@$$)
(I'm doing this off the top of my head so I don't know about other armies)
But this should, as [insertwhaterverthehellyournamewashere] said, get the same pricing for bitz ($11.00 for a GKT's friggin BODY?! what the hell are they smoking over there?!) and blisters ($10.00 for a PAGK with a psycannon or a justicar. Yeah right. You know how many M&Ms® I could buy with that? a LOT.).
A man's at odds to know his mind, for his mind is aught he has to know it with.
Though price increase is irritating, when you joined the game you knew it would be expensive I'm sure. And atleast for me one of my local stores keeps the price the same instead of increasing ,atleast most of the time.
Space Wolves- 4,000 pts
Dwarves in progress
Oh come on.... GW has kept their price the same for some time now. It's arguements like these that make me mad, not GW's prices.Originally Posted by Th3n4m31zm1k3
It's a simple fact of the retail industry that prices go up over time.
There's always been a simple answer to this kind of statement, "Find a cheaper hobby".
There are those of use that don't see GW as being that expensive, or even if we do, we accept it. To be honest, it gets a little tiresome hearing this same old tune sung over and over again.
As for Forge World, nobody is making us buy their products. The game is easily played without them. For my part I'm pepared to pay for quality.
There are other, much more expensive hobbies out there believe me. And is the price you pay not rewarded with the fun you have?
It's not only the plastic your paying for, think of all the other aspects of the game. Do you thik all that background info is typed for free? Do you think designing models & game testing are acts of charity?
Before you moan so heavily about the prices, consider what you're really gtting for your money.... Hours of entertainment!!!!
