Well it startedwitht he new marine codex a while ago now, plaguing eerything they could. Ok, new army and models needs some attention, boost sales. Good so far, but then they still kept going and terminators all over white dwarfs, converting loyal marines to chaos, and so on. Now that the nids are getting a brand new armybook and models, they got a whooping few pages in the last white dwarf, not much more the other previous ones, and still a crap load of marines on sight! This as a bad effect on the gaming community, as the SM ratio whent from 45% to a whooping 70% of players in the tournaments nearby, and it starts to affect my army building and composition, since I know that 3 out of 4 of my matches will be marines, it's good by heavy bolters, hello plasma weapons! Anybody feels the same?

Unfortunately GW knows where their core players/potential players are. Well over 70% of the folks who play at the GW store I frequent already played space marines or Chaos marines. That hasnt changed all that much since the new codex. At the same time though, most of us also have or are in the process of building a secondary non-SM army (Im personally building Necrons and 'nids in addition to my space wolves). To be frank, I understand why GW is putting so much emphasis on the Marines. Marines represent probably the best army to start with. They're easy to play, are a very resilient army, and you only need a small amount of them to play a game (this point is attractive to parents funding a kids interest in the game). Compare this to the 'nids, where to have a really effective army, you have to have at least 2 battle boxes, a HT, a Carnie or two, and possibly a few extra warriors. Plus elites, HS, etc. (translates to much more $$$$$). As a result, if MOST of their new players (who probably spend the most money of any player at least initially) start with space marines, then most of GW's marketing will focus on space marines. To be honest now, does anyone here believe that WD is anything more than a marketing tool for GW?

Dude, in mu community 90-95% of all armies are marines of some kind. I hate marines! I am so sick and tired of them. But on the other hand, why wouldn´t most people like them? Every single one of their models seems to be worth its points, and they all look good due to the fact that the GW designers update them all the time. I wish that I could say the same about CWE and DE. About half of our models just looks so ugly that I do not wish to pay for them (DE is a lot worse than CWE here), and more than half of our models are actually not worth to field (Here, CWE is worst of). And I fear that GW holding us down, so that the eldar don´t steal their beloved marines spotlight. When will GW realize that keeping making the game so one-sided will make it boring, and cost them fans?

Most armies that I play are specialised and themed armies, and alot of players don't know how to deal with them when I field them, it sounds like '' un? no 3+ save ? what kind of army is this? why do you start all infiltrating? why do you have so many models and no tanks?'' jsut because al you see is marines dealling with other marines all the time, or crons or chaos..... and sometimes bielthan with the original striking scorpions

I would guess every army is going to get their share of propoganda over a few months after their codex comes out. Yes, the nids didn't get much in the last issue of WD -- but their codex isn't out yet. I'm sure when the new codex, battleforce, etc, comes out, they will be in WD and all over the GW website and such, and that will continue for a few months until the next Codex comes out, so on and so forth.

I play marines, I also play Guard and Tau and Eldar (Well, used to, my little brother got to the Eldar, and well lets just say that out of 2,000 pts army I only have 250 left). I see no problem with them. My first army was Eldar, and lemme tell you they are friggen hard to get right, wheras SM are easy as pie, alot of the time it is hard to lose with them.

the marines are a starters army granted, but ehy all the poisonous promotion all around? I mean wouldn't it be better if the tournaments had their fair share of each race ( maybe not that bad, I know DE and DH aren't that popular) to make things more competitive, not just how well you can play Vs marines.
