how does everyone feel about being a few points over on your army lists. usually about 8 is max, and most people don't care. however, some people are absoluteley fanatical in their denail of this. i just don't see how it will really matter in the game, i mean first turn is a much bigger advantage and it is random, so an extra guardian is hardly cheating.
P.S. how do you make polls in the new forum?, i could in the old but can't find it now.
Poll added by your friendly neigbourhood pollmaker!!
I'd say 3 points over is the max for being "fine", but over that you have to tell your opponent, who could quite easily buy a few exra pieces of wargear.
seems fair to me.
i usually allow anything from 10- 1 points over. how ever you should be careful because sometimes those 10points could allow a baslisk to be fielded.
Hmm, it's odd you call playing by the rules 'fanatical'!Originally Posted by tiaxrulesall

1 point: gives that deadly Khorne berserker his Khornate chainaxe!
3 points: gives that monstrous 'dreadnought, defiler, rhino, tank that's so hard to kill' a smoke launcher!
5 points: gives that Chaos marine squad a heavy bolter or daemonic fire or daemonic visage or melta bombs to the chaos lord!
6 points: gives the Chaos marine squad a Flamer!
10 points: gives them an autocannon!
14 points: gives you another Chaos marine!
I'm just using the army I know, maybe other armies can get even better stuff for a handfull of points, I don't honestly know!
At what point do you draw the line?
In friendly games we just up the point value to give the other guy the same shot at extra wargear!
I.E. If I have an 1856 list when we initially agreed to 1850 (because I just didn't want to leave that flamer at home) we round it off to 1860 and my friend gets a chance to fill his wargear accordingly.
Every point counts, and if you really want to play in the spirit of the game, then follow the rules. (When you play 5 card draw poker you don't deal yourself 6 cards do you??!!)
Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth! ^_^
I think a few points over is ok. But as a fantasy player, you cant just take of a man in a squad and make up for points because you'd lose an entire rank bonus! I say a few points over is ok, but if they can take of something to bring it down (like a skirmisher model) then you should.
Me and my friend arent very strict on the subject. We usally play with every model we own and the arent normally armed to the teeth. I dont care but no more than 20 if using every model that you own. Chill out man!!!!

Do you have uber micro...????
basically what we do is agree to a points limit eg 2000 and then when we have our lists ask if we can go say 10 pts over and they agree and also go about that many over
lets agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours are
