What do you think is the hardest army to play competitvely? Obviously, its different at certain levels, so lets say, a 2000 pts list. What do you think is the hardest 40k army to play competitively at 2000 pts, and why?

Even though I don't think this thread belongs here (what happened to the Tactics forum?), I'll say Dark Eldar. And I think anyone who's seen their army list will agree. The only army harder to play correctly is Harlequins, but they're still in the experimental phase. I can't wait for the next Eldar 'dex- supposively Harlequins get re-released.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, even if it's wrong.
I'm not really sure I agree but it might be becuase the only DE player I know is really great and I have never seen them lose with them.
I personally would say that in a 2000 pts game Necrons can be the hardess to play competativly becuase with so few unit choices and stratigies avabile most other players at that level of playing with know exactly what they need to counter you.
I can really see a Space Marine player negating any advantage the necrons might have in a 2000 pts game. Master of Sancity, Sniper Rifles, Assult Marines, Meltaguns, etc.
Tyranids would be my guess. After all, many people playing them cannot play them in small games let alone large ones. (Hordes of little guys with few big guys as backup doesn't always work as well as some would hope.) Many of the nid players I've played in large games are somthing like this: "1500 pts to spend on my army, o well that means I better get 400 gaunts and one ht and I'm set." Absolutely no sense of balance...

Three Companies of the 26th Vinancium
143rd Airborne Badgers (99.9% done)
159th Corsair Rifles (35% done))
69th Armored Wall Busters (95% done)
Total 197 men, 12 tanks, 4 Heavy Artillery Pieces
Dark Eldar and their army list confuses me and they seem pretty hard to play. But I think I've got to agree with Osaria, Necrons have few unit choices, so the tactical play must run out somewhere.
necrons are only hard to play because of the points cost of the individual units. If you have to take table quaters or hold objectives it can be very difficult because you end up with so few units.

Seriously, a catachan army, as they can only infiltrate in jungle terrain, and so far I've seen only 1 event this year with some, and they don't do too well in the open.....
Doh! I never thought about them. Yeah, especially Catachans as they cannot take Lascannons or tanks. :hmm:Originally Posted by Wolf_Pack

Yeah I think I hit the jackpot, but I guess a tau army with mainly Guela'vesa would be pretty hard to win with, or the ork grot army ^_^ so many of them!
