It really annoys me that in my area of all the Fantasy players no one has over 2000 pts with 2 exeptions (one of which works for GW). It really limits the kinda games you can play becuase I cant play anywhere but the GW at the time being, that will likly stay the same when school starts again so there is no bending the rule.
I dont know anyone willing to spend the money for a 2000pts army when they have to play on the crappy 4ft x 4ft GW tables either (cant play at eachothers houses, fantasy just started to get more popular here about 30 new players, no one knows eachother well enouph). I have around 1400pts and will probly not buy more becuase I cant even effectivly use my army at the GW becuase tables size, I dont care about my invite to the Battle Buncker this fall, I'm not dropping another $200 just for one event, thats why I want to start a differnt army more effective in small numbers than my Orcs & Goblins. I need no Terrain in my deployment zone to even feild my army and if the rest of the GW boards are not clear (no opponet will agree to that) then 2 units see action tops, the rest are cramed in behind (goblins are 5 wide 6 back, orcs 4 wide 6 back) and I lose due to it. If I was allowed to take another rare choice I could lower the number of goblins I take and put in a unit of Ogre Bulls that fit onto the feild or something.
Have you tried asking, "Next time we play, do you think we could play 1000pts, not 2000? Noone really has 2000, and this table is a little too small."
I've requested smaller battles in the past, and GW have been helpful.
I dont think you understood. I can -only- play small battles but I play a goblin heavy army. Meaning I feild 58 of them for 112 points. I dont have enouph room on the feild to play. However if 1000 pts games were allowed to have more than 0-1 rare choice I could feild a more exspensive unit so I could fit my army onto the board. I own 2 rare choices and one costs 313pts, If I could feild it rather than a group of goblins I would have room to fit the rest of my army becuase right now I dont have any tactical options since the board is to small. With 6 Ogres It takes up alot less room so I can manuver.
I may have mislead you becuase I also took time to complain about not wanting to get 2000pts because I can only play at GW and the Boards are to small for that.
Ah, now I understand. Thanks for the clarification.
At my local GW, the board is long and thin, but there are two, and a square one if needed. We combine tables if we think we'll need more room. I feel sorry for you, but don't know what to suggest.
I was thinking of starting a differnt army to counter this propblem and was thinking of Skaven till I found out any army build requires clanrats, that gives the same problem as my goblin army so its not happening now. I just want a stand and shoot army but cant start till december when Dwarves update.
I have a huge orc and goblin army and have never found a problem fitting it into a 4 foot by 1 foot area for 2000 points, even with a lot of goblins (and I mean a lot here). Maybe you should look at the way you structure your units and how you are positioning them on the field. Or alternatively ask to play a smaller game.
Helper monkey, bring me beer and donuts
I only get 1ft by 2ft becuase I play in the Lustria Campaign. 50% of each deplpyment zone is covered in terrain along with 50% the rest of the board.Originally Posted by Lurch
our club plays with 6x4 feet tables no probs for us
BOOM, HUR HUR HUR,
3000+ point OGRE KINGDOM ARMY
Join the THE ANZAC CLAN....... or suffer
I am the Empire, 63% Honorable, 49% Bloodthirsty, 44% Magic-minded, and 62% tactically-oriented!
Then I would revise your army list and use fewer goblins as they take up lot of space and you can have so many of the little buggers.Originally Posted by Osaria

Why don't you use reserves? At my local club its an unoffical rule we've given Orc armies to encourage the horde element.
Couldn't hurt to ask anyway.
