Mission: Secure and Control (5 Markers)
Opponent: Space Wolves
After getting in 2nd, I was placed on table 2, and my opposition turned up not long after.
The game itself got of to a rocky start when he stunned one of my Preds for two turns, as well as my Dreadnought in the second.
He then moved his two LS Tornados up that same flank, which is when I obtained a strange love/hate feeling for Assault Cannons.
One squad of 9 was ripped to bits by 5 rending 6's =x__x=
His Wolf scouts also came on too, but instead of attacking the preds, he went for a squad squad that was, by then, down to 6 or 7 men.
They soon died, as the Thunderhammer that the Wolf Scouts had just bopped my men. However, the scouts soon met their head once I rapid fired into them. Though the Thunder Hammer totting wolf dude survived and then started to chase the remaining pred.
All in all, the game just went downhill, and ended up with him holding alot of the markers.

From table 2, I had dropped all the way down to table 46, the second to last table, as well as the table that would be my battlefield for the next 3 games! =x.x=
This game started off really well, and saw me taking out one of the two battle cannons he had in his list. The second when I managed to removed, though the Defiler still lived to stomp about.
But it soon slowly evened out, and got into a slogging match of shooting and combat.
It then went a bit pear shaped when my Assault Squad Deep Striked into one of his Preds =X_X=
It was a close game in all, but I was unluckly not to hold any of the quaters, and so in that respect, is where I lost.
Final score: Iron Warriors 17 - DV 3
Domini Vulpes unit of the match: Pred Fire and Ice. (Blew up the Vindicator and removed the Defilers Battle Cannon.)

This game also got off to a decent start, with me knocking out, IIRC, two rhinos within the first 2 turns, and manged to Rapid fire into alot of SW squads.
But it soon got really blood thirsty, and there was alot of ups and downs, but it was a very close game indeed. If it had been Seek and Destory, it would have been a draw, but at the end of the game was when things really started to get close.
I was moving my 3 men Assault unit into his corner to try and take 750 points, but he poped off a final last ditch stormbolter shot from a rhino at them, and managed to kill one.
I now had no scoring units left, so I jumped the two Assault marines to assualt the Exterminator that was left.
4s to stick the melta bombs to it!
I looked down at the table in horror as two ones came up. The squad was then promtly shot to bits.
Again, it was a really unluckly game, and in terms of hacking each other up, it was close. But he manged to gain two quaters, one of which was my own.
Final score: Space Wolves 20 - DV 0

Day One Conclusion: Things really were looking bleek. At the bottom of the table, and getting through to the final looked a looooong way off.
But I meet some cool people. And what can I say, my friends rock.
Mission: Take and Hold
Opponent: Nurgle (Death Guard)
I was on table 46 again, but things looked up right from the start. Getting Omaga meant that while my Jump packers and armour didn't start on the board, nor did his Rhino, Pred, Dready or Defiler.
Though I must say it must have been the quickest first turn ever.
Me - "Ok, er...I have first turn...Hmmm, nope, your go."
Him - "Hmmm....nope, your go."
Me - "Well...that was an interesting first turn."
I then proceeded to run up to his Lt manreaper gribbly and blast it dead with some Plasma.
And from then on, it never really seemed as if I was going to lose.
His plague bearers didn't managed to get into combat, and died due in a daemon test thing.
That, and I had gotten his Great Unclean one down to 2 wounds before my Captain went in and finished things off, not giving the rest of the command squad a chance to try lol.
That and all the rapid fire I was going was knocking his squads down.
But then ALL of his armour came on just before mine did. But I Immobilised the Pred, and again took of the Defilers battle cannon.
He gave up in turn 4 or 5 I think, as he felt that he wouldn't be able to win. Not since I still had a vast amount of my army left.
It was a good game though, and it was the start of a fighting come back!

Mission: Secure and Control (4 Markers)
This game got off to an even but slow start. And for alot of the time was a vast shoot out between my marines and his Grey Knights, which all died sooner or later.
His 3 lascannon dreadys managed to take out all the lascannons I had by removing the weapons. To which his friend came out with.
"Bolter shots don't do much to Dreadnoughts."
A turn later I sent 6 Hvy Bolter shots into one of the Dreads rear armour, destorying it.
Once his Termies and grand master came in, I managed to kill all 5 termies in one turn, and getting a wound, on a comically named 'Grand Master Jamie!"
He moved into combat, and manged to make of my squad run away, but as soon as my Captain and his lads came in he was done for.
The Captain managed to make another wound before being force weaponed in the face.
But then Grand Master Jamie face 21 str 5 attacks, 3 of which were power weapon attacks.
...needlesss to say, Grand Master Jamie died.
He did ok though, managing to take one marker to my 2, but with only two of his dreadnoughts remaining. I took the game.
Final score: Daemonhunterss 3 - DV 17
Domini Vulpes unit of the match: Assault Squad. (Stopped the Stormtroopers dead, and then the Power fisted Sgt then manged to wipe the unit down to two men before falling!)

Omaga helped me again, as this caused him to only start with his scouts and his 5, 5 man tactical squads with Hvy.Bolters.
It started off as a long ranged fire fight, as I moved my Command squad and one other up the left flank.
Then one of his LS Tornados came on, and killed two from the Command squad. But the Command squad soon sorted it which Bolt Pistol shots XD
All in all that one flank got kinda messy, with two of his dreadnoughts in wrecks. (The Assault Squad still redeeming themselves from flying into an Iron Warriors pred the day before.) and the wrecks of three LS Tornados lying about the command squads feet.
It looked as if he might have been able to pull of a draw, but the command squad zipped into his lonely commander, while the Assault squad, who by now, were bwlow half, but still went into a Pred that was holding the middle marker.
They blew it up, taking it away in the last moments of the game. He still had two though, and so, with all the bolter fire I could muster, I manged to make him lose a second, while I moved in to take a second in the bottom corner.
He was unlucky not to get contest the bottom corner, but his last Dreadnought was half an inch out.
But it was a good game again, and I found that I was about 30 VP from a 20 - 0 win.
Final score: Ultramarines 3 - DV 17
Domini Vulpes unit of the match: Assault Squad (Took out a Dread, saving the command squad, and took out a pred, helping to save the game.) Command Squad (Took out two LST's and killed his commander.)

End of GT Conclusion: What a fighting comeback indeed! From 3 points, and being on the bottom tables, to gaining 54 points =^__^=
Though it was going to be close again. So there I was, biting my nails...I went up to the board of results at the end.
My heart sank, it had happened again!
"Oh, not again"
But not 2 seconds later the guy with the mic said this:
"Oh, and remember, that its the top 52 who go through for this heat."
On closer inspection, posistions 49 to 52 all had 129 overall points, and so, I had made into next years GT Final.
Though I've learnt alot from this years GT. Last year was just for fun, to see what it was like, this year, I came and did what I came to do.
But from what I found about the players on the top tables were that, though some armies were power armies, it was more of the players themselves that won.
People who will stick to the rules, and play by the rules, very rarely being laid back about them. Not that it a bad thing, or the sing of a bad or arsey player. It just means, for Tourney games, I'm going to have to follow the rules more, and become that little bit harder.
Not that it will mean I'll start being hard in my friendly games. But I just now see even more difference in the Top table Tourney games, than to that of the games you play in your house with some friends over a few beers.
All in all. I'm looking forward to the Final =^__^=

I'll have to. I'll have to also buy an LO T-Shirt just for the occasion =D *grins* Though, mind you, thats what I said about this heat XD
One thing that you left out t is that on the top 10 tables the players used a very effective system. A lot of them split their army in two and then shot the living S**t out of 1 unit per detachment, now as most armies there had only 10 units, and 2 units per turn getting whooped by 750 pts of firepower until they weren't point scoreing , to completely destroying their opponents armies was happening in turn 5/6 but their opponents army couldn't score any extra points / take objectives after turn 3/4, and those that could were either off the table in reserve, or were trying to hide.
WARMASTER of the SCHOLA PROGENIUM Alnwick Chapter (soon to be the world)
Congratulations toastee, that was an impressive comeback and a decent report.
I noticed all your opponents were power armoured armies, I've never been to a GT and I suppose I should've expected this, but I was just wondering if you get many players using other races there? Just curious about this.
Well, theres always alot of 3+ save armies at Tourneys, but last year I didn't play the same army twice.
Last year I played, Eldar, Tau, IG, SM, Dark Eldar and Orks.
But this year, out of 92 people, there were about 20 to 30 non power armoured armies.
Well done, you've earned your place in the GT . And as for refining your list, your probably in the right place after all....you've got the might of the LO tacticians to call upon.
