If you know what army you're opponent's playing, do you swap out certain parts of your army for other more effective parts? Or do you use a balanced list?

I voted that I'd do it, but only with permission. However, I do make one exception-namely, the main gun on my Hammerhead. If I'm facing MEQ armies, I'll always put on the Ion Cannon, unless it's a tourny and I can't. The extra 20 points just becomes 2 Seeker Missiles.

Personally, I put "No, and I consider anyone who does a cheater" ... I don't necessarily consider them cheaters, just unsportsmanlike. I make my armies with fluff in mind. Even tourney armies, I keep a theme and a fluff element in them, and I don't change that. I never make my armies with the opponent in mind - I always make my armies with fluff, my own strategies, etc. in mind, and I think it's extremely unsportsmanlike to adapt your army to fight a specific enemy, even if they do it to you. |

I think it would be a great idea for all tournaments to do this: Everyone gets a 250 point "side bar" of models that they can switch out of their army before any game they play. This way you dont' have to always make a static list that is take all comers. Instead you can have some units that are good against MEQ's, but then you can switch those out if you end up in a game against IG. I personally never use a Demolisher tank because it's only really good against MEQ's and alternatively I would never use an Exterminator because it's only good against non MEQ's. If I could have up to 250 points worth of stuff to switch out, then I would take these tanks and then switch them based upon my opponents. I dunno, maybe that idea is a bit crazy, but it could be worse.... I could be on crack. |

I don't think it really needs to be explained other than to say that a commander would have the resources to change his army to fit the threat that he faces. I mean, you don't bring a helicopter to a jet aircraft dogfight, so why bring a demollisher when facing against something that an exterminator is better suited against? |
