i play space wolves and i have already posted on these topics but i did not get the answer that i wanted.
first, i want to play fantasy and was wondering what armies are cool/fun to play/noob armies i do not want to play dwarves or dark elves and that is the only thing really, but i would like some magic because that is something of the many many thing that are different from 40k.
second i was wondering the same for 40k just no dark eldar i want a mix or cc and shooting or a more shooty army. because space wolves are not as good in cc as they were (but just got 3rd in a tournament last week and itwas only my second tournament and good many people in our club perenially are in the ton ten in Grand tournaments) yes space wolves are good but bolters are not too good for shooting. their range is not as good as it could be.
well really any advice or info would help because i dont want to be like my friends and go out and buy every codex but they wont let me borrow them either oh well.

i have to say, dude, i have no idea where your sentences end. and secondly, im a space marine (personal chapter), chaos (berzerkers), imperial guard(cadians), and fantasy chaos (archaon's horde-pre defeat). In my opinion, most of the armies are well balanced unless you gear them towards a specific thing. I fought a space wolf army that butchered me in HTH not long ago. they were very good in CC. trust me. nothing is more humiliating then watching your nice and expensive berzerker squad fall apart at the claws of a git on a bike.
but yeah, in answer to your question, a good noob army for 40k would be Ultramarines. they are great all rounders. and in fantasy, empire. same again. a bit softer than some armies but they make up for it in numbers and artillery.
A Murder Is Only An Extraverted Suicide.....
What a post! There's no punctuation or anything. Bit confusing, but I'll try to give some advice. Let's start with 40k. I don't know how you could pick a more balanced army than a space marine army, especially Space Wolves. With true grit, counter attack, and bolters your basic grey hunter pack is one of the best all-rounders. Eldar may not be a 'noob' army, but they are a challenge to play and excel at both shooting and combat, they just can't always take a ton of punishment.
For Fantasy, you can't get an easier army to play than an all-knight Bretonnian army. Line up in lance formation (units of nine or twelve), pray, and charge. When you feel like throwing in other harder to use units, you've got the trebuchet for a bit of artillery, archers for shooting, mounted yeomen for fast cavalry, men-at-arms for blocked up units, and damsels/prothetesses for a bit of magic. And of course there's chaos, who have such a wide variety of units there's a little bit of everything for anyone. Good combat skirmishers? Beast herds. Amazing infantry? Chaos warriors are the best of the best. In knight form they're even worse. Marauders, daemons, minotaurs, giants, the list goes on.
I feel dirty for telling some one to run an all-knight army of Bretonnians. I need a shower.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, even if it's wrong.
