Out of curiosity, how many people here who maintain more then one army-a lot of you, by the looks of it-actually make use of it? Now that my Tau army is almost done, I'm thinking of starting an Imperial Guard army, but I don't know how much I'd actually use it, especially if I start going to major tournies, like Conflicts and such.
Anyways, opinions on the matter?
Burn the land and boil the sea. You can't take the sky from me.
Member of the Canadian Clan, eh.
Mech Tau Cadre: 2000 points, needs paint and magnets.
Paladins of Avalon (SW):-1500 points, needs paint.
I put my army in a display case in my house for the time being. I don't realy play them too much (blood angels) any more. If my buddys need models to use they can use them from time to time, damn proxy models I don't get rid of any army unless I'm going to recollect it sometime soon.
Tomb Kings, Marines, Eldar
The main army I play with at the moment is a half Khorne-Undivided mix, next to that I'm building a Death Guard army. (have all the models, just need to paint 14 more marines) When those are done I think that's gonna be my main army for a while.
I'm also working on an Imperial Marines army with lots of bikers just for the looks. They are FAR from finished. I proxied them for a one-off battle with my best friend, and their play-style was superfun but extremely useless. (though I won that game)
After that I'm planning to make another Imperial Marine army in the same colourscheme, for some serious fights. (posted that list somewhere on this forum)
After that, (about 1 or 2 years from now...) I would like to give Tau or Orks a try. (depending on the release-date of the Ork codex)
There are some side armies that I dont really use: about 2000 pts of Orks, Ulthwé Eldar and very boring marines (maybe I'll strip those for future armies) They are all painted like crap, lost their army lists, and don't bother making a new one, Dont even know exactly what models I have, They just spend a lot of time in a box out of sight.
Aw, poor first armies...
Something about your situation: Do you really like shooty armies? It might be fun to try a new army with a different way of killin stuff. If you like hordes of crappy armoured guys with a different play-style then Tau, Orks would be more fun than guard. Unless guard has haunted your thoughts for a long time, and you like the image of the army and stuff.
