    Starting 40K

What is the best army (Apart from Space Marines and Nids) To start with, I was thinking Orks Myself but they don't really seem a beginner friendly Army.

Please Bear in mind I don't know nothing (Or at least not alot) about 40K when you reply

    Try this link:

Otherwise, necrons are easy to paint. I play Black Legion chaos, they can do any play style - probably the most versatile army in the game imho

One of the easiest armies to get rolling with, that's not a Space Marine variant, is the Necrons.

They are tough to take down, reasonably powerful, and their special rules are reasonably easy to figure out.

They are also incredibly easy to paint to a tabletop quality.

All in all, it truly depends on what type of army you want to play with; so I'll start by asking that.

What sort of army are you looking for?

Shooty, assaulty, mix of both..? Mobile, static? etc. etc.

probally an army thin in numbers but double hard to make up for it

Or either an army that is more combat bases that get in big numbers and just run foward like they are mental

if it helps I use Orges, Empire and Ardboyz in fantasy

Do you prefer shooting or close combat?

If your answer is shooting, again, Necrons would be a wonderful start. They are tough, have a good armour save, and their special rule let's them get back up. Very neat.

Not to mention, they are quite easy to paint.

CC-wise, I would recommend Daemonhunters with plenty of Grey Knights. Again, a reasonably safe "newbie" army, as they are similar to Space Marines (they are elite SM, basically). Excellent at CC and reasonable shooting power, though they lack in numbers and anti-tank. Their rules and such are probably a tiny bit harder to grasp than the Necrons', if you choose to get into Inquisitors and detachments/allies, etc.

I like the idea of grey Knights,

the major put off for Necrons for me is that the person that I'm going to play the most is a really big necron player and I don't know if 2 Necron armies would fight each other or plot to overthrow the imprium or something

    Ahh..

Well, that there's a good reason not to play them.

I'd recommend Daemonhunters with the Grey Knights; for one, they are excellent models. You also have to buy less models to field an army. They are good all-around shooting and CC; again, their only two major disadvantages are numbers (they will almost always be outnumbered, even by things like Necrons, if you go mostly Grey Knights) and anti-tank capabilities.

But besides that, they are fun, IMO; I almost started them, myself, and who knows.. I might still. Check them out, and look around the DH forums, and see if you like what's there.
