I am 14 and i am starting a club at lunchtimes with 4 other people. We are going to use the 40k in 40 minutes rules. We are also going to have to teach younger people to play and i will probably spend weeks trying to get them to have all models from the same army and have a legal army.
I was just wondering if anyone else had done something like this and any tips of what to do, campaigns etc
well i am still convincing my teachers to let us use a classroom.
i think that using the 40k in 40 mins rules is a good idea. i also think just do a few simple missions like cleanse. and only have small tables and barely any terrain.
let me know how it goes.
It could work. For now I'd just ask them to bring counters from home (who knows, some of them might have plastic army men that you could use in lieu of regular minis) and just teach them the rules. I'd maybe start with two armies, say Dark Eldar and Marines as they are in the boxed set, and expand from there to say, Tau and Necrons. Then SoB, Demonhunters, Eldar, etc.

Its taken me a while to convince teachers. If we are lucky they will let us start on tuesday. I think it would be better if they used proper GW minis even if they borrowed mine. I think cost puts a lot of people off it so 40k in 40 might encourage more people because they dont need to buy as much.
I bet that 95% of the people that come have space marines and 95% of those have ultramarines. The armies of people that can play well are.
Daemonhunters and nids (me)
so a nice selection of armies. Just have to wait to see what all the younger players turn up with.
I wish there was a gaming club around my area. My local Gw is very small. Only has about 3 4" x 4" tables and a small painting table.
I might see if there is a place i could hire cheap and go there after school.
If we start on tuesday ill tell you how it goes.
What country are you in? Im in uk
we were gonna have a 40k club at school but the principal decided we couldn't because their was nothing in the game which pertained to school in any way

Rules for grenades are on page 72 of the rulebook.
Thats unfortunate sithjack.
You could say that it follows a possible course of history if the devil had created the world instead of God. So it is related to History and R.E/R.S. Unlikely it will work though.
Anyway isnt the idea of a club to be something different from school work?
i am in the uk and there is a gaming club network so i would suggets going on there website and looking on there for a gaming club.
3 of the 5 years in my school have a quiet room at lunch and mine is one of the ones that doesnt. so i told my teacher we needed one and i will use that for my battles.
i might get a few small forces and use them to introduce people to the game.
we were going to start a gaming club at uni but we found one that meets in a pub so we go there instead
so far no-one has jaffa'd anyone else with a mini
less hate more kittens
i dunno, wouldn't it be a little nerdy to play 40 k at lunch time? plus are your lunchtimes really that long? i think we get around 37 minutes.
i play 40K not because the game is cool (it is cool) but because the models are cool, so gaming isn't too much of an issue for me.
Nerdy? Does it matter where you play it? Your doing the same thing wherever you play it
Many people dont play at lunchtimes because they think everyone will laugh at them. I am not bothered. Anyway we get an hour for lunch. 40k in 40 minutes doesnt usually take 40 minutes so we would have loads of time for eating lunch packing away etc etc
