Pretty straight forward question, How would you run Games Workshop?
This is from a business stand point, not just make ever thing free and go bankrupt.
Me, I think I would rework the model line to make more cost effective plastics and faster production of a wider variety of army races. And defiantly have more often 'All army incorporating' campaigns, at least ran in White Dwarf.
Note: Please dont post anything stupid as to get this topic deleted in one day.
The guilty laugh while the innocent suffer.............WELL WHO'S LAUGHING NOW!!!
I would actually convert the entire model line to plastic for more convertability, and furthermore... mass production, taking into account of economies of scale, meaning: more models and more fun conversions for everyone ^__^
make everything plastic, lower all the prices and make some better brushes
BOOM, HUR HUR HUR,
3000+ point OGRE KINGDOM ARMY
Join the THE ANZAC CLAN....... or suffer
I am the Empire, 63% Honorable, 49% Bloodthirsty, 44% Magic-minded, and 62% tactically-oriented!
I'd lower prices by alot, convert most of the model lines to plastic and re-release all the armies that desperatly need re-vamping ASAP. So generally keep the people happy...
By day he fought with sword and shield.....
By night he fought with pen and parchment.....
He was....The Warrior Poet.......
Fear the ANZAC Clan!!!!!
ORDER OF THE SHADOWY FLAME!!!
Do you have uber micro...????
all plastics, lower prices by 10%-25% dependant on season. Drop LOTR, R and D into new armies, revamp the armies that need it, make WD interestiong again, more than one worldwide campagn a year, and finally, make better brushes and gaunt sprues (id like to be able to just by either hormogaunts OR termies... dont see the point of giving me crap i dont want

youve been legal pwned
I'd probly see if I could get SoB and GK into Plastics (at least the basic figures), and possibly dabble in a CGI Movie.
Oh, I'd also encourage more "own armies" in WD Battle Reps.
Other than that, I'm pretty happy with GW.
I think what I would do is the two things that I have been complaining about for years. Improve quality assurance, (ie. actually start a QA dept.), and start catering to the long term gamers, instead of the new ones, (ie. fewer SM codeci and more of the "lesser" played races). I don't know their profit margin, so, I really can't say anything about that, but QA needs improving and they need to stop spending all their effort bringing in more gamers and apply more effort to keeping the established gamers.

Well, in addition to the aforementioned stuff.
I would change the model production line drastically. Every model wwould be plastic. In a box, for example, of Tactical Space Marines, there would be ten space marines. No missle launcher, no flamer. Then I would make additional sprue boxes, each containing a sprue of, say, 10 of one type of weapon. So, boxes of flamers, boxes of plasma cannons, power fists, power swords, etc etc etc. These boxes would probably cost about $10 American each. The infantry boxes would go for about $20-$25. Weapon teams would come in full squads, with interchangeable weapons. Actually, I would make it so that you could interchange weapons much easier without making outside comprimises, such as magnetizing limbs and the like. I would make it so that the new production departments (such as SM, Eldar, Tau) all got equal attention and funding. All of the staff would be able to take their time to make everything they came out with, new models, new rules, and so forth, thus ensuring high quality and something gamers would like. I would also send out recruitment invitations to the highest ranked individuals on such forums as LO, Dakka and Warseer, as these people have a strong grasp of the game, the fluff, and what people want as a whole, and could make the game better for the people who played. By having content customers, GW would have a secure profit base. People wouldn't mind waiting a little bit longer for goods that were assured to satisfy them.
My gaming group's new motto: That army you're using is overpowered because it hurts my guys, codex is broken and needs a rewrite.
Pretty good idea, that.
I'd do the same as the rest of you. If we lower prices we might attract more people who think "it's a waste of money", so make more money in the long run.
I'd make everything plastic: cheaper production
Get non-biased battle reports.
Release armies that actually need it
downplay space marines. we need more Guard/Orks!
Thats pretty much it...
I'd probably reduce prices, tell staff to be less "in your face", have more competitions, release something new for each game at least once every 2 or 3 months, wheter its a single model, some new scenery, whatever.
