This is usually an interesting topic, thought I'd get you guys thoughts on it. I've asked on Fantasy boards and 40k boards, and MOST players I've come across tend to choose one game system and stick with it. I personally like both equally, and play both (though MUCH more 40k.) So what do you all think of 40k vs. Fantasy?
I only play 40K. For me it's not so much about which one I think is best (after all, I have next to no experience of WFB at all). I don't get to play my chosen game as much as I would like and don't wish to further dilute this with another game. If I end up with more opportunities to play in the future then I may get into fantasy too. I imagine that I will find it just as entertaining.
40k is easier than WHFB, which has alot more rules about all sorts of things, and that frightens me, because I thought 40k had lots of rules.
5 Tactical Squad Marines
I play both. For me, 40k is my relaxing game. The game play is remarkably simple, decisions are almost always easy and straightforward. Once you get past army construction, the rest of the game is largely academic.
Fantasy is much more involved, with careful placement of units and maneuvering being much, much more important. Unlike 40k, it tends to constitute something of an actual mental excersise. I don't play this as often, largely because I have been playing Warmachine (which is another game with far more complexity and precision than 40k) for longer than any GW game and I play it more often. I get my 'mental excersise' gaming out of my system with it, and it leaves little will to play Fantasy.
I do love 'em both, though.
Both games rule.
Altough this is probarley the most pointless topic ever. You can't decide which game are "the best" 'cus people can think whatever they want.
I have no 40k experience but there is no army I really like the look of, and I have never really been into SCI-FI
BOOM, HUR HUR HUR,

Join the THE ANZAC CLAN....... or suffer
I am the Empire, 63% Honorable, 49% Bloodthirsty, 44% Magic-minded, and 62% tactically-oriented!
Nice english, BTW how is this a pointless topic? I clearly stated I was asking for people's opinions on both games, especially compared to each other. Last I checked, that was the point of open forums? Anyway..Altough this is probarley the most pointless topic ever.
Problem w/ 40k - Sometimes there's a complete lack of tactics, though fantasy has this problem as well, not as bad usually
Problem w/ fantasy - How your men actually do in combat doesn't even seem to matter. It all comes down to bonuses and out-manuevering. Can be very frusterating when you are in the mood for a 40k blood-fest
The reasons for this being a pointless topic are simply that there are quite a lot of identical threads, and they commonly end in flame-battles.
However, I'm an avid fan of both games. I find 40k more enthralling fluff/story wise, whereas I enjoy playing fantasy more.
I'm a sci-fi fan, I like the 'space' gothicyness of the imperium, I just don't like the knights of the round table malarkey that is the empire. give me star wars over kingdom of heaven anyday!
I play both (when I have time to play anything). 40k is cool- alien swarms, gun battles, exploding tanks and artillery strikes. WHM is more cerebral and the most taxing games I've played have been WHM. I find WHM more startegy based and so good players tend to be more challenging.
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
