I was just wondering if someone else had picked up this awsome book from the Black Libary?
I borrowed it from my friend an I read through it quickly (took 3 hours  ) and I must say that this is probably one of the best collections of fluff that has ever been released!
The book itself is more of an novel were you follow the work of Inquisitor Shasam at an alien beastiary on the planet of Biegel 9.
All the info that is discovered about the races that are examined is somewhat stunning. It tells of how many of the ancient races are connected to each other in ways that are quite crazy and strange.
And the things they find out about the Etheral is really cool.
And the end of the book is awsome as well!
If you are, like me, an fluff-lover I strongly recommend this book. And don't look at all the pictures first, read all or you will spoil the end (think of it as a normal novel and by looking at the pics at the end you see what is going to happend).
EDIT: Here's a link to the book on GWs online store Click this.

Yeah i have it, it's a good read and some of the alien creatures in it are interesting, The umbra for instance look like the Balls from Futurama. The autopsy's that are done in it are quite intereting.
Hehe, I did not understand much of the autopsys
I liked the Umbra as weel, but those spider-things (Q'otl was it?) were the coolest 'cus of their connection with the Tau.
I've wanted it since I first heard about it.
Is there a lot of info on the races and what not? As I' hoping it'll help when writing my own fluff, what with average living ages of the different races etc.
I have it. Foxeh, in all honesty of the playable races - or ones known - are Nids, Tau and ork. It is more in the realms of true autopsy, as in what the organs are fun and what they have etc. Not background in the normal sense. It is combined with a number of vid pics or notes of the captured creatures, it is intresting but for the most part most the stuff in there are completely alien to the game (well has a few known races, Hrud being one I know of).
It is an intresting read but I personally would not rely upon it for background information with the races.
Ah =( Oh well, aye there any fluff books that do? Or would it just normally be best to ask such questions on the forums?
Hmm, background history on the armies. Well for the Imperium - namely marines - I would suggest the Horus Heresy, there is also the battle for Armeggedon. Otherwise I do not believe that there is all that much to deal with the basic history of each race.
Toastee: You could try to get your hands on the outlawed 40k fluff bible (biggest copyright violation ever), but you have to find a way to get it 'cus posting it at a forum = the death of the forum if GW-people sees it.
The stuff I found most intressting in the book is probably the less known alien races that is feutered (Q'oatl for teh win!) and as well how they found connections between many diffrent races (the kroot being more influenced by orks then most people would guess for an example...).
I saw it about a month ago and thought it was fantastic, although I couldn't read through it, only look at the pretty pictures.
I'm definetely considering getting it as soon as I have enough money.
And it is worth every coin you can squeeze from that wallet :yes:Originally Posted by Melkor
But looking through it before buying kind of spoils the end
