Maybe im the only one, but i am very annoyed at GW and the new release of Codex: Tau Empire. Its great for tau players to have new rules and units but seriously wat the hell where they thinking, are their eyes painted on, have they not noticed the ork codex and the eldar codexs, i havent heard much about them, are they meant to be dying or what.
I collect Eldar and my mate has dark eldar, the codexs/rules are good but why have GW redone a pretty upto date codex. I think that its a sales gimic to make money, but seriously how much money do they make out of warhammer already. Our group of gamers have every army except for Orks as their codex is pretty old and they only an effective team in the right hands. In most army fluff the orks are one of the most mentioned armies that they are fighting, but i lack to see them on the battle field, because of the old/3rd edition rules.
I might be all over the place but im trying to come from all angles. It just really annoys a serious gammer and hobbyist of this neglect to redo the old and good.
Hope is the first step on the road to dissapointment.

I think because Tau are new GW want to consolidate their fan base. They know orks and eldar will be around for ages but they don't want to repeat another squat incident where lack of interest meant in the end GW wrote them out of the game, which though unavoidable was kind of embaressing for them and lame. They want to make sure that doesn't happen again.

And Tau were easy updates. A couple of tweaks and some new stuff and they were good to go. Orks and Eldar will require huge work and will tie up the biggest part of the design team for a long time.
hahaha....who ISNT annoyed at GW (other than the people who work for them)...

I am not annoyed with GW and I don't work for them either. I would like to congratulate you for adding a deep and meaningful post to this discussion! Kudos!!Originally Posted by whiteshields1830

As Da Mighty Camel said, it they did the Ork Codex and nothing else, it'd be around half a year toa full year before anything actaully came out, but the Tau were quick and easy to do and lefts them work on the Ork and Eldar at the same time but not leave us with no new models for a year!
Shock, horror! How could a business possibly want to make money? They must be spending it all on planet killing superlasers which they're going to have flown to the moon and set up a new world government!Originally Posted by Farseer Benillius
GW have a right to run their business the way we want too.. When we buy majority stock, then we can sit up there and lecture them about the direction we want them to go, but until then it's down to them and their shareholders. This may be a financial move, but if it's a sensible one, who cares. They need money, if nothing else, because every time they use the word Eldar the guy who made them all up (space.. elves.. my god! I'm so original!) takes money from them. Maybe this explains why they aren't jumping to release a new Eldar codex.
Hang on though, Tau was definitrly an up-to-date codex, and eldar isn't. For a start, much of it is silly, i.e. mind war chese, and it doesn't have the new format; I think the new codexes have more fluff and more extra items. From even a comercial point of view, Tau players often tend to be new, and once in anyone would appreciate a new codex - also, why are Tau popular? Probably because they're new and shiny. Tau empire was not needed, as noobs don't go in for that kind of thing anyway. Among older players, a new eldar codex would be better received, I'm sure.

Ignore this person. What a waste of perfectly good oxygen. There are kids in Antartica or China or Korea or some other country that would kill for the oxygen you are wasting with each passing minute.
Its consolidation of the fan base. Eldar chaos Space marines and Orks are all staples of the WH40K universe. Tau is new thus GW wants to make sure they survive.
New Eldar models are out at the end of this year or the beginning of the next. *Every* model in the range - except Vypers, Falcons, Wave Serpents and basic Guardians - is being updated. 'Updated' could mean anything from whole new molds to a simple re-release, though.
This is from my friend who works at head office.
