Well just got in from yet another weekend at Lenton, and this time it was to take part in Warseers 40k Carnage 2006, and what a cracking weekend it has been. A fine place to place the DV on hold I think
My first game was up against an army that was mostly made up of Khorne, bar the Oblits and the Havocs.
If I remember right, he got the first turn and started by moving forward down the left flank with pretty much everything. Though I managed to rapid fire a squad with a plasma gun into his big ol lord of doom, killing him within the first two turns. *Phew*
But soon enough he got his men into combat, and lots of hacky slash death was caused. However, while this was happening, the speeders, the pred, two other tac squads and the assault marines advanced up the right, engaging into a fire fight with the 3 Oblits.
The assault marines with chapy, supported by a speeder, soon broke off to halt the remaining Khorne marines from following.
The end of the game saw me with the termies, one squad of nine men and the pred in his area, with two of his squads in mine.
Result: Draw 10 - 10
vs Imperial Fists
Having lost to Imperial Fists 4 times before, I went into this game seeking vengence of some sort.
It started of slow, which bolter rounds flying all over the place, but it wasn't long before the Scouts charged his main assault squad unit in order to hold them up.
The combat soon moved to the middle of the table with a squad of marines and all of the assualt marines duking it out to the end.
My speeders had managed to take out both of his dreads, and the pred had knocked out the Vindicator. But when time was called, it was only turn 5 and so we called it there.
Result: Draw 10 - 10
Mission: Take and Hold
This was somewhat of a surprise, as this was against Gen_eV, the guy who I'd come down on the train with.
I had managed to pick the table edge, and since the mission level of Omaga, he only started with his rippers on the board.
But soon all the big gribbly stuff started to appear, and Mr Flappy came flying forward. Eeeep for I, as I had the marines, the pred, and a Land Speeder open up on the flying mass of claws and teeth. Needless to say, It died, and that was somewhat of a bonus lol.
The termies came on without the help of the teleport homers, instead opting to teleport into a mass of open area and open up on the advancing fexes.
It was only at the end when he had around 3 fexes left and the other Tyrant, did the rest of the force move in after them. Encircled, I managed to kill two more fexes I think, and knock the tyrant to less than half wounds.
Result: Win 17 - 3
vs Daemon Hunters
Another recon mission made my face go x__x
But it would end up being another great game.
The right flank got killed to bits by lascannon, bolter and plasma fire, and once the grey knight went in. It was clear that he'd smashed that flank, but not without the loss of a Storm Trooper squad bar one bloke, and both his death-cult models.
The left flank was a different story, and the scouts, assault marines speeders and pred managed to bomb it up the table with little trouble....until the speeders rounded the trees. Both Speeders would end up being ripped from the sky by stormbolter and pyscannon fire, though not before the damage had been done.
Soon the termies came porting in, and it was clear that though he had taken out all the tac squads, the points from what I had in his zone would make it a draw. Which was thankful since at first it looked as if I might lose. But with a 3rd draw, my top ten place was looking a lot more distant.
Result: Draw 10 - 10
Mission: Secure and Control
Another slow starter, but it soon hotted up when a lot of his minis started coming back on to the table, and once his lord and the daemons got into combat, it was looking as if I might lose it altogether, and that top 10 place would have to wait till next year!
But a hail of assault cannon and bolter fire slowly knocked away two of his squads. I tried to pop of both his dreads, one of which was holding a marker, in the last turn, but it wasn't to be. The termies held one marker, by milliemetres, and one speeder managed to zip 24" to claim another.
A very close game at the end. If he had the other dread in, I would have lost, and if I'd managed to kill the other holding the corner marker, it would have been a win to me.
But another good game to round of a total of five great games
Result: Draw 10 - 10
4 draws! x_x
Well, my top ten place was well of, as well as a top 20, as 23rd from 46 was to be my place in the end.
In the end I think it was my lack of sqaud markings, and only monir conversions which didn't see me in the top 20.
And so, for the time being the Domini Vulpes will take a back seat while either the Tau or Witch Hunters will take over the top dog place for a bit.
I'm hoping a fresh start on a new army will see me right, and that I'll be able to take them squad marking and conversion points next time!
All in all, a great tourney was had. Thanks to the Warseer staff for a great weekend
Sounds like a great tourney, better luck next time!
I would go with the WH, way cooler then the Tau
Meh, I'm unsure, I guess it'll just be the one which is ready in time The Tau are all bought already...well, bar one or two things.
The Sisters are only at aboiut 400 points at the minute.
But I think it might be the Tau I take. The WPS tourney and the GT heats for next season are all Oct/Nov time.
Till then I have no tourneys to go to
Great report Toastee! Four Draws is fairly good, its funny you popped up exactly half way in the tourenment. The DV are a great army and nicely painted, its suprising that you lost points because of that.

Well, they could be painted better...like I say, its the markings that haven't been done and what not. So I'll sell the ones I have now and re-start later with a new Orange colour that'll stop the "Oh look, Ultramarines!" comments lol.
Well cant fault you for consistancy mate!
Roll on the next one, (prefer sisters myself)
Everything you have been told is a lie!
Gah! Toastee, you are not doing all that well! But then you can be beaten by me so.. you suck. XD Nah good to see you getting into the act but sad to see the DV in their last military action, they may not be the best painted but they are indeed painted.
It seems I actually came 19th o.O
But meh, aye the DV will be back...just not for a while
Toastee, u attend any of the GW in Newcastle? Could give u a game some time...even though a mate and i are trying to get back into FB for this summers Doubles Torueny.
I don't go to vets nights because of work, but my local is the GW Newcastle store...the one in town.
I'm actually buying some wood elves....bout 500 points I think, from a mate of mine. But aye, I would love to meet up for some games My Saturdays, Monday and Wednesdays are normally free for me.
