does any one know how to deal with a character who has a 2+ armor save and is turbo busting with a bike W/ 4 wounds and cant be instant killed? i'm not sure if i were to shoot everything i had at him with my tau, i still wouldn't be able to kill him (i roled it out to check.). i also considered the fact that i could just charge him with my kroot, but he is still higher initiative and could win that battle. how can i counter this tactic.
also on that note, how do you deal with a player who fields a squad of aspiring champions of khorne with the daemonic speed and feel no pain traits?
Swamping him with a nice big squad of Kroot seems like the best idea. Even if he survives, they'll keep him for at least a turn, meaning he won't be able to Turbo-boost and thus easy prey for your guns.
How is he immune to instant death? Unless it's with the Chaos gift demonic rune or the SM adamantine mantle, there is no way. Remember, toughness increases, like those from marks, gifts, and bikes, do not affect instant death, except for that granted by demonic stature.
As for the champions, I'd try hitting them with broadside railcannons. Since they're twin linked, you have a good chance of hitting, and since they're strength 10 feel no paion doesn't do any good. Remember, Feel No Pain doesn't affect instant kill wounds or ones that don't allow armor saves.
Chief Inspector Dreyfus: Are you wounded?
Clouseau: No. Fortunately I was saved by the darkness.
Chief Inspector Dreyfus: So what we need is more light.
Dealing with the bike character can be done by shooting them after they shoot or charge into another unit, or swamping them with croot.
However if the opportunity comes up remeber that they can't turbo boost through rough terrain at all and they have to move 18" FROM WHERE THEY STARTED to get the bonus. That means if they're weaving through rough terrain there is a fair chance they won't get far enough or won't be able to get to your units.
Also if the opportunity comes up and you're feeling sneaky you can take advantage of the fact that they can't boost through rough terrain at all by using a devilfish to tank shock the bike into some rough terrain they're near. The tank shock rules say that the model must move the shortest distance possible to get out from under the tank so you can control where they go. On the next turn fry them with plasma. True they could try and death or glory with a meltabomb or something but with skimmers moving over 6" counting all hits as glancing I like your odds.
