I never really paid attention to it before, but soon new eldar models will be coming out. I was wondering what happens to all the old models? Are they yanked from the shelves so you're stuck buying the new stuff even if you decide you don't like the new sculpts or is there some kind of big sale(I'd like in on that if there is)?
well really its neither... for tau they just kept sellin the old models normally and also sold the new ones. eventually the old models disappeared so now there really isnt any more but you can certainlly buy some if you really needed to.

Maybe. That makes sence if only art changes, like new aspect warriors. But I can't see people paying full price for for things like the metal heavy weapon platforms once the new plastic ones hit as you pay more for less. Unless they're pushing them on unsuspecting 12 year olds.
I believe that they continue to sell the old sculpts that are already out on display, but after a month or so the staff are told to empty out the old stock blisters into big cardboard boxes, which are sent up to GW HQ and melted down for the metal.
It breaks my heart to see them do it.

I thought they used to auction the old stuff off, not sure if they do that anymore.
From what I've been told at the local GW store, most older models will be only available through their mailorder.
For instance, the SM metal scouts (the snipers, boltgun and shotgun) models, won't be available in blisters anymore, because the snipers have a new plastic kit now, and the bolt- and shotgun scouts, are available through the other scout plastic kit.
So what exactly happens, I don't know, just that metal models are dissapearing, more and more through plastic kits.
