hi, now that I've hit 2000 points of eldar Its time for me to start a new army.
These are the 3 things that I look at when starting an army. However I can't decide which is more important to me.
I was wondering which is the most important to you? for which reason did you start your army?
I suppose the most important thing to me when I decided to do Tyranids was the way the models looked. I like the teeth, claws and general alien-like appearance.
Second is the way I am able to convert them in almost any way I want.
Third is probably the fluff. I have always liked how Tyranids are impersonal in the destruction they cause. If they kill a terrible dark lord of chaos they won't remember it as being more of a moment in history than a Carnifex eating a Guardsman.
i go with what ever insipres me... when the BT dex came out i guess i felt inspired by the fluff of these guys.
fluff has ALOT to do with my decition as well... thats why i can never collect Chaos
Fluff, models, rules in that order are what inspire me.
The fluff and the models are the sole reason why I play necrons, their cool rules are just an added bonus to me.
It also explain why my space marine army has only 20 tactical marines and 5 scouts in it (dispite it topping over 2000 points). I just love cool stuff.
how does it top over 2000 points if it just has 20 tactical marines and 5 scouts?Originally Posted by The_Outsider
that would just be all the troops in the army. 2000 points spent on HQ and dreadnoughts and land raiders and whatnot.
When I first started I just picked an army and that was it I was playing.
These days however its normally about the fluff. I like to write a lot and so I like to have armies where I can easily make my own. As well as having decent fluff to read anyway.
The models also are a thing I take into consideration sometimes, but its normally about the fluff.

I choose tyranids as they were very different to the shooty armies I use in Warhmmer Fantasy.
I suppose by playing tactical opposed armies you get an understanding of how to win with each and also what type of things are a real pain - which you can then go on to add to the other army.
For me it is the fluff. When I got back into the game I asked if they still had the Grey Knights. I was told yes and no. Yes there are Grey Knight models but no they are part of the DaemonHunters. The shop let me look through the codex and I was hooked.
Why use science and education when ignorance and superstition will work just as well.
I say make up your own Chaos army of chem adicted fallen monastic space marines. Let's see how would you do that... Oh yeah, you could use the BT models (with some bits) and the chaos rules, and... umm... I BET the Savlar Chem dogs fluff can give you some great ideas to flesh out you own story! Yeah that's a great idea.
