how do you guys feel about using vehicals. do you find them of any use? other than vehicals that stay hidden(like a whirlwinds indirect fire) i have come to find using vehicals can be a pain in the butt. it always seems like they either just get blown up or end up stunned for half the game. i think i will start just using infantry from now on. what do you all think?
I think that's a great idea, if you don't want to win many games.
Tanks are an important part of most armies. They are everything from heavy support to transportation for your troops.
The problem might be in how you PLAY your tanks. Do you stick them out in the open & hope for the best? Do you keep them in cover for the "hull down" roll? Do you take advantage of indirect fire on those that can get it?
Perhaps you're choosing the wrong vehicles... or the wrong upgrades?
For example, if you play Chaos, the Mutated Hull is ALWAYS (IMO) a great option.
With more details, we can offer better thoughts.

well, i usually make sure all my tanks are concealed or mostly out of sight. i just find it somewhat disapointing when a tank just gets blown up, it makes me feel like i wasted the points, i always feel like im taking a risk when i field a vehical becuase one lucky shot could mean its demise. i'm not saying tanks are useless, just that they dont seem to be as resilient and relayable as infantry. of course ordinance and indirect fire vehicals are needed and i admit that certain tanks like the monolith, landrader, and hammerhead do have great survivability, but other things like dreadnoughts, vindicators(crappy side armor) and rhinos are just too fragile. i mean i do get some good use out of my tanks, but they always end up blown up throughout the game. one thing that does work well however is drop poding a dread with tank hunters and lascannon, and is usually an exception to vehicals being somewhat risky.
Well, first off, make sure you are using your vehicle correctly. If you charge headlong into the middle of the field, then sure, your going to get popped. Remember that your vehicles can move and shoot! If you're being pestered by that dev. squad, then haul it and deny him LOS. Extra armor and smoke launchers should be standard.
Dreads work best when deployed into a flank. As they are elites, you will likely be deploying after those things that threaten it and can pick your engagements.
Rhinos are disposable, if they move you 12" then provide cover for someone (as a vehicle or crater) consider there job done. Think of them as WWII landing crafts.
Also, as it has been said elsewhere, if you only have one vehicle it will get a lot of attention.
