Yes, absolutely! It needs a change.
No, it should stay the way it is now.
I don't care if it changes or not.
Just taking a poll to see how many posters on LO believe the White Dwarf magazine has gone so far downhill in quality recently that its not even worth buying. If interested in sharing your opinion, please state whether you don't like the magazine in its current form (eg. you think it SHOULD be changed), you do like it the way it is (eg. you DON'T want it to change), or you don't care about its current format (about 100 pages instead of 130-140, larger font than it used to have, more pictures than articles, etc.).
This is being posted in the General Discussion forum instead of the White Dwarf forum so more people have a chance of seeing it and taking part in it.
The reason for this poll will be discussed later in a Private message to you by either myself or rikimaru. Please post below if you take part in the poll so we can have a list of LO posters interested. If you take part in the poll but do not want a PM then please say so in a post in this thread.
For more information as to what this concerns, please see the link below:
P.S. Mods, please do not move this poll to the White Dwarf forum...this matter has already been discussed with Toastee. Thank you for your consideration.

I'll go along.
While I agree completely that it needs a change, I have no hope whatsoever that anything that the 40K/WFB fanbase does or thinks has any impact whatsoever on the folks at GW. They are controlled absolutely and completely by the bean counters. If it doesn't affect their bottom dollar, it doesn't exist. All the complaining about the content in WD, Jervis's RAW comments, and the pathetic excuse that was dumped on us as FAQs is just pissing in the wind. We can type up all the suggestions we want and if what we suggest doesn't cost much in time and effort, it might get considered. If it's going to cost them anything in the way of time or effort, it won't happen. We don't know what we're talking about and they can't be expected to spend any money on development or change beyond what has been budgeted for a project. (which has probably already been spent.)
Don't get me wrong. WD needs correcting. We're not the idiots that they think we are. Nearly everyone involved in 40k/WFB has some form of computer access and has been to their website. We know where to look for what's coming down the pike. A page or two in WD would be QUITE sufficient to let us know. But we're imbeciles. We don't need anything in WD that will make us think or that will help enjoy the game more. We need things to look at and say "Ooooh, must buy..." Whether this is pretty pics with no substantive value or ads that we've already seen. This company is engaging in one of the most inept uses of their resources that I've seen in very long time. This level of ineptitude should have driven them out of business by now. Maybe they're right. Maybe we ARE as stupid as they think we are because we clearly haven't been smart enough to apply the pressure that we can to override the blood-sucking bean counters and force them to provide the product and services that they should be. That is part of the relationship between producers and consumers and for whatever reason this relationship has been completely one-sided.
Yes, there are female marines and my Sunhawks will let you know in a major way.
Not all the Emperors Children turned coat. We will redeem our name.
The White Dwarf Magazine lost much appeal to me when LOTR invaded the magazine, it should have been confined to its own mag, as a result of it Specialist Games got pushed to the back of the warehouse and various GW online stores are slowly killing of the range; Dauntless Light Cruisers and Ork ram ships gone from the US store, transports gone for the CA store....
The Mag has also seemed to be dumbing down to appeal to the underaged hobbyist, WD should be written for people aged 15+ I am fully capable of reading big words. Ads are becoming full page and pointless, take for example the recent Lizardman article; it uses short and dumb lines which is basically more advertising, it dares not list a single weakness in the army, and were of few lines to appeal to people with low IQ's and oversized wallets.
Games Workshop also does not ever tell us why the prices are increasing, and they could easily justify it in the mag.
I wish to see more Specialist games articles; Battlefleet Gothic was much better than I expected and bucket loads cheaper than a core system game with a superb starter set for a mere forty pounds.
GW clearly cares not for the veterans or battle-brothers, and only to the 4 feet newbies who can squeal their way to get more money of their parents and spend it in massive droves, wallowing in ignorance. White Dwarf has declined and is still falling, no wonder GW's profits have dropped.
(Btw, can I recive that PM thingy so I can see what this 'next step' is?)

Aye, I second this - it's also a large part of why I purchase my models on ebay now too. I'm not a needy guy, but if GW doesn't do somthing more for my money, then my money will go elsewhere - like a fellow gamers pocket so he can pay the lights, tuition, or rent.Originally Posted by Codicier_Korsai
What I want: Double the size of every issue from now on, or at least add another 30-50 pages.
Give equal face-time to the three systems, or at least reduce the amount that LotR gets(seriously, there isn't that much content left ot be published, and I just keep seeing repeats of the same scenarios).
Give us at least one batrep for each system.
Give us a dedicated specialist section(is 10-15 pages so much to ask?), that will show a batrep from a specialist game, and some hobby articles(and possibly new chapter-approved-esque rules). Cycle it each month. Alternatively, give us a larger specialist game section, and give 2-3 batreps and hobby articles/rules for the different systems each month.
More how-to sections, less GamesDay showcases.
Less army showcases, unless it is truly inspiring(those Tau ones a few days back weren't too inspiring for instance).
BETTER BATREPS! I want to see truly inspiring battles fought on truly inspiring terrain. Come up with new scenarios a little more often to. Also, STOP RIGGING THEM! Instead, they can play maybe 4-5 battles per each system, each one with different races and terrain combos and the like, and then whichever one they like the most they can publish, but please don't engineer them.
More rules... more rules damnit!
Limit the amount of pages at the front that show all the new products. The last one was ridiculous, showing like what? SIX PAGES of new LotR stuff!?
Get Greydeath(you know who he is, right?) his own conversion corner.
And my list of demands continues on.
Tau - Knights of the Frozen Wastes
Necrons - The Phalanx of Gleaming Death
CSM - Iron Warriors

White Dwarf HAS to change, since the moment GW decided on their long term LOTR license thing's have fallen apart. Dont get me wrong, it's not that LOTR is a bad game. It's just that it's become a huge financial liability, and that has had a knock on effect over the whole hobby. The magazine has turned into a glorified photo show case for new model's at the expense of any decent content (the new format battle report's a prime example). WD seem's to have come down to a 'take it or leave it' attitude on GW's part, personally I think I'll leave it...
''It begs the question; why would the emperor permit something quite so dangerous and untamed to exist? And that would be to take down another Space Marine Legion."
Yes, absolutely! It needs a change.
