Ok, well i keep hearing about how the rhino rush is gone and how transports got the short end of the stick as far as 4th edition rules go.
Now, honestly, ive never been that big of a 40k player, so can someone please explain how and why the transports have been nerfed/shafted?
I understand the complaints about vehicles and the ap1 rule but as far as transports and the rhino rush?
The big thing is basically the fact you can't assault out of a normal tranport, it now either has to be a Land Raider Variant or open topped.
So in 3rd Edition SM players an dthe like rolled thier Rhinos and such 12", marines hopped out, Rapid Fired and assaulted, very deadly.
Also the whole Emergency Disembarking rules made rushes more disruptable by enemy fire
AFAIK, there may be more, but I'm a Tau Player, all I have to do is shoot!

Also the entanglement rules, where if you fall out of a transport, your pinned which gives everyone a turn of rapid firing you to death. It was worse for the eldar and dark eldar by far then it was for the marines. Eldar getting shot at out in the open is instant death, their units just can't take the fire like marines can, also, when you fall out of a transport, you start taking armour saves, not space marine armour saves. Even worse for dark eldar, though they can assault out of their transports, if wyches get shot out of a raider, their taking 6+ saves, and then getting shot at for the next turn. Skimmers don't block LOS so you can't shield your important raiders form your lord or wyches with cheap warrior or empty raiders, and at AV 10 open topped, they can't take any fire at all, I've lost a raider to a single shuriken pistol before. Some transports are fine though, tau ones are great, for them, skimmers not blocking LOS is a good thing, it helps them pull their fish of fury tactics. Raiders can be put to good use though when comming out of a webway portal so they can't get shot at. Ork transports still work great too, they only get hurt on a 6 when they fall out, and their open topped and fast vehicles.
