Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hello everybody at Librarium Online
This is my first thread on the forum so I thought I'd give a shout out and ask you all which environment you like to wargame in?
I know some people who are never out of a Games Workshop and consider that the best place to game. Other people have communal clubs where they wargame.
The perfect wargaming environment for me is for the game to held either in my own home or the house of one of my friends. This allows us the choice of terrain (obviously) but also the choice of music, food and beverage (soft or otherwise) to keep the game company. More importantly it allows us to play the game at our own pace and even leave the game set up if we need to suspend the battle for a short while (normally lack of munchies causes a break in play).
On the other hand I can't stand to wargame in a GW shop. I always feel that I'm on the clock, that I have to watch my Ps & Qs and I'm always paranoid that I'll damage their terrain!
Maybe I need to lighten up but then again maybe not..
So where do people on Librarium like to wargame?
welcome aboard Squig69.
I don't game at GW either, even though their store is about 5 miles closer to my house than the independent dealer I game at. I also have a table (currently a CoD setup) in my house, but I tend not to use that one. I have a baby at home, and 4-5 guys shouting and laughing tend not to make for great sleeping atmosphere for the little one.

I guess at home with friends. I don't really have much time to game anymore though, so this is the only real time i get to.
Plus i've realised that playing unknowns at WHFB is generally a bad idea. Probably because they take the game way more seriously than i do and can get really anal about LoS and stuff like that.
I tend to avoid GW stores like the plague, not my scene at all
I can game just about anywhere as long as there is a table with reasonable terrain on it to game on.
Just find a space and play, I'll join if I can.
I do a fair bit of gaming at the GW near my place, and I'll say right now that there's a really good group of regulars there. Mostly late teens and older (a few younger kids, but they're not bad, usually), solid armies, good generals, and overall just really nice folks to game with. The staff is also great, not to mention they're some of the most accomplished commanders of the whole group.
So yeah, GW is no problem here, though it seems I'm one of the lucky few that has a top-notch location instead of the usual horror story...
Most of our games are usually hosted at my print shop, We've got a good selection of table sizes there and we can run up to 6 games ot once (more if I really, really wanted too).
We also host smaller games at one of our centrally located members houses. (This is a big deal for us as we live in the mountains, so getting to and from places can be awkward).
We go down to "Da Cidy" (Denver, CO) for mega-battles at the only GW in the state, and tournaments at various other places (we have a good set of wins so far).
I enforce a harsh, "painted models only" rule. But, I also paint armies for people who don't have the skill/time. And we have a truly insane amount of terrain available (4 full sized tables and 2 4x4 tables and enough terrain to easily fill them all).
We also have "house" armies available to people who would like to try something different, or to help new players decide what they want to try out. These are made up of older models that people cycle out of their own forces or sometimes they're an actual group project where everybody donated a little something here and there to make a full force. I keep them all painted up nice and run a steady list of additions and conversions on all of them.
I also made up a website for our club, so members could show off their stuff.
We even have standing tabs at a few local eateries, for those days when we just want to gab about new rules/army compositions/anime.
All in all, a pretty damn good time.

Mostly at the local Hobby store, not GW. GW is kinda wierd... kinda pushy, kinda has the same atmosphere as a used car dealership if you know what i think... dono if they work on commission but that's what it felt like.
I know the regulars at the local store as i used to work there (which is actually how i got into WH). It's always cool, no pressure, no fuss. I only have one other friend who plays WH, so playing at home is tough, as were both fairly new, no real terrain, barely an army a piece.
I have to say in the comfort of my own home really. Me and friends can go and get stuff to eat, take breaks from games, and all stuff like that. Whereas in gw you can't really just take a break from games.
Although, when I'm in a good mood, ( Good Mood!) me and some friends will go over to GW and have some games and paint and things like that. It is really quite relaxing also to have the GW staff around you, who can guide you on rules queries and the like.
So basically, I don't really mind gaming anywhere, so long as I'm not on a set time limit...
Oh yeah, welcome to LO.

I really don't mind where I game.
Gaming at a mates house (Or my own) Is good because you can kick back, have a few beers, and jsut generally chill out and have a laugh.
GW is good because you know there are tables and at least some better terrain, but depending on the day you go you have to put up with the kids that are always loud, and trying to lord it over all the smaller geeks.
(Note: I'm not picking on geeks I'm one too)
The other place I enjoy gaming is at tourneys, because it fast pace. You can't afford to dither about, and so you have to be on your toes to get the highest place you can.
Though like I said, I don't really have a favourite, its just down to mood at the end of the day for me.

i dont really care where i game at home is better because you can do whatever you want
but i still love gaming at my local GW it is so fun because of the people their and it makes it even better when you know everyone in the store so i dont understand why alot of you dont like it.and like most of the other stores it is in a major shopping centre and that means food and drink is a few steps away.
