I see that losts of people have been downloading Fleet Commander, I hope you all enjoyed it, and maybe even played it !
To make the game as accessible and cheap as I can, I am releasing my own range of models for the game! They are a simple and good looking starting point for FC players. At the moment, the only models I am able to cast in resin are a Generic Frigate, Generic two decker and a generic three decker. These can be made into any ship within their size range. They are cast as a one-piece hull and sea base component, with metal rod masts and printed paper sail patterns. They don't cost much to cast, so they are going to be fairly cheap (as an incentive for you to play the game!)
At the moment I am only doing one-off casts for freinds, but if the casts work well I may release them on a larger scale.
Would anyone be interested in them? I would just like to gauge the level of interest before possibly selling them . I'll get some pics up of soon if I can. Thanks guys.
sweet:w00t: ...I'm interested...How much are you selling them for? Please post pics as soon as possible...Go will...Looks like you might start a bussiness up ..
Awsome to the max! Given the possibility, I might but 'em.
Thanks for the interest guys.
Price wise, I think it would be more economic to sell them in packs of 2, 3 or 4. I'm not sure of the exact price for each model yet, I'll have to weigh it against the cost of resin.
In fact, the masters were so quick to make and sculpt, I may expand the range if they are popular. I'm not getting them cast in metal, so the costs of moulds are low. Silicone moulds cost peanuts!
I'd like to do an assorted merchant pack, and some of the bigger unrated ships. But lets see how the first three go first. After all, they're pretty much the three main types of ship that will be in your fleet.
Here a some quick snaps of the masters for the frigate and the two decker, sorry the quality isn't great. I'll do a proper shoot of all the masters soon.
The Two decker (about 5 cm long.)
The Frigate. (About 4 cm long.)
Unfortunately, the photos dont show the scribed decking and bulwarks very well. Also, I haven't sculpted the beakhead decoration on the bow and there are no taff rails yet. These will be green stuffed this week .
Hope yopu like 'em.
Niiice! Great work really.
They look great!:w00t:
We should let GW know this...Silicone moulds cost peanuts!
Very nice models though I have no idea what FC is.
Takka n' Wakka's Dakka Attacka! 33W / 6L / 1D
Fleet commamder is the game I wrote, and the miniatures are to accompany the rules. Follow the link in my sig, or go to the "Other Articles" in the articles section .
Well, I've decided to postpone preliminary casting in order to sculpt some better details on the masters. After all, the green stuff costs me very little, the time is costing me nothing, and the extra resin will cost you nothing. But the product will be better ! I've sculpted gunports on all three ships, prow decoration and next i'll be doing the stern decoration and galleries. They look so much better for it!
When they are ready to cast, i'll be willing to take orders. But in the mean time, the comments are really helping .
Wow, sounds nice. Will be looking forward to see some of them.
Just a question..What'd you use for your molds? I mean where they custom made or ones you made yourself?
