Well, with the UK Doubles Tournament less than a month away, I'm getting to frantic painting stage. With the GW forums closed I thought I'd ask here if anyone else was going?
Me and my mate are taking witch hunters and black templars. A kindof burn the witch theme! We've been to one 40K doubles before and we didn't disgrace ourselves, but I'll be interested to see how the new regulations work, and maybe come abit higher this year.
Our team name will be Chains and Flames, so hope to see some of you there!
I keep meaning to go to one of them to see how they work, but things keep popping up >_< so it looks like I'll be missing this seasons too.
Still, I'm going to have my WH ready for next seasons GT Heats, so theres no reason why I should be able to go to next seasons Doubles

So no one's going?
Well your all missing out, I've been to three of these now, and their great fun. Much less competitive than the GT, and the age limit is 12+, so I don't have to wait another year to go!
My good friend Farseer Veraenthis and I have attended for the past two years (the first one was the event that got me back into the hobby), but he is off in Kaprun working on a ski-resort for 6 months at the moment, so I'm afraid I won't be there this year.
The first year was good fun, but we did pretty awfully (neither of us having played more than 5 games in the previous year), and had a few games that were just horrible (including a memorable one against a husband/wife team with eldar, who were actually awful, and argued amongst themselves the whole game... not fun).
The second year, we did much better, and had way more fun.
I wouldn't say it is less competative than a GT though, some of the teams there will be out to win, no matter what.
In fact, because of a bit of careless conversation, we caused one of the top teams to get disqualified. We met a few teams practicing at WHW the day before, and were chatting about the standard 'cheesy' 2x6 vyper lists. Now, these are 'technically' illegal in combat patrols, because you have to either:
-include a troops choice (to fit the standard combat patrol list); or
-include an HQ choice (to fit the old Saim-Hann list).
...and as it happened, the team we were talking to were doing pretty well on day 1, and got beaten by a 12 vyper army. They made a formal complaint, based (mainly) on our argument, and the vypers were disqualified. Not so cool.
Anyway, ignore all that. It really can be great fun, and if you get the chance, make sure you check it out
